Some people are already aware of the proposed date for this years forthcoming Smart Festival at Mercedes Benz World,
at Brooklands, Nr Weybridge in Surrey, but for those of you that didn't know...this is THE date and THE place for you to
turn up at in your ForFour.  :o

Times of the event have not as yet been formalised, but if it's ok with LadyV  I'd like her to take this post over
from this point on.   So...keep your eyes peeled for any updates and any possible 'pre-Festival' rendezvous info that can be
organised so that we can parade 'en-bloc' into the meet in as big a ForFour convoy as we can manage and steal the show
from all the other Smarts that will be there.   8)

For those that can and do....please spread the word about...(even onto FFO) as we're all part of the ForFour 'brotherhood'.

Basically you won't win because you don't have a smart, it'll be sneered at and ignored. Sorry to be harsh but thats the truth, it has to be a fortwo or roadster that is in original condition, well not modified to large extent ie no engine swaps etc... usually some tacky knitting or stickers wins the competition.

I won't be attending the smart fest, too boring and repetitive.

Hi All,

Firstly the sooner we know about which date for the Smart Festival the better- September is a pretty busy month for me work wise and the only weekend I have off is the 3rd and 4th and the 11th of September.

If the Festival is on another weekend, I might not be able to come along- I think I have pretty much used up most of my holiday time what with the wedding and the honeymoon so I am not sure if I can take a day off yet.

For the past two years I have entered my car into the "Best Kept" category- not because I think my car is the best but because I like the fact that I can represent the ForFour, however after some thought I have decided not to enter any competition (even though the parking is the best lol)- I felt after last year that it was a little bit...hmmm how can I put this...fixed?! Especially in a certain category But that's a different story altogether!

Sam- why don't you come along to meet up with all of us rather than just for the Smart Festival? I am sure it will be great to catch up with some friends?

I am happy to take over the meeting arrangements but as mentioned above I need to know the exact date before I can commit.

hey i compleatly agree with you, its the fortwo and rodie competition, but the idea i have in mind might catch a few eyes. small hint, think Ms Poo last year, something along them lines. its not a knitted smart cosy before you start jumping to conclusions!

You know what Fox  I'm in agreement with you there re Best whatever it is rubbish....
Some would say i should put mine up for it...but you know what....I can't be a*sd !

Like you I'd rather we convoyed in en-bloc....and had our own little ForFour area which we could sort of
'marshall'....where we could proudly proclaim our individuality....have a Smart ForFour flag/banner fluttering
above us while we all sit / stand around chatting to our friends.....and have a dam good day of it.

What say you all to that ?

I agree but disagree. All the "best" competitions are crap but I disagree as to why a forfour doesn't win it. Here's why it doesn't.

Fortwo owners, more often than not, are freaks. They think their cars look good if the plaster them with terrible vinyls or hideous paint jobs.
Roadster owners are (generally) wannabe sports car owners, usually midlife crisis but without the cash. They mod the hell out of the Roadster to get extra power in an attempt to claw back their age and hair line.
Forfour owners, by and large, a very normal compared to "other smart" owners because the car is more normal. They don't do the silly paint and graphics, generally they don't mod for mental power. Normal cars attract normal owners and normal owners don't do things to their car that would win a smart event. The judges at these events are expecting fluffy toys, horrible paint and mismatched vinyl, they are also expecting thousands of pounds worth of mods which just aren't available for the forfour.

As for "best kept". Fortwo and Roadster are smaller cars so less likely to scrape the paint and those car owners are more likely to change panels. I've never known a forfour owner to change their panels.

Personally, I think that not winning these competitions is actually a win in itself.
Use the system, get a decent parking spot and represent the forfour community.

I'd still suggest that forfour.co.uk had their own stand. That's parking for 4 of the best cars we have on the forum.

ill put my hand up for my forfour to go on the stand, IF i get knocked back in the best dressed competition.
I'm leaning more towards the stand but i want to show my forfour and hopefully win and show the other smart owners that forfour owners are just as crazy as the rest of them!!

I think it's a good day out, to catch up with friends (and enemies!). If you are lucky enough to get entered into a competition, then you get the best parking!!

I'll be there if I'm not on vacation.
