Hi guys, long time no posting! I've been keeping an eye on Brabus models that come up for sale on eBay for a few years now and the non runner that's currently listed has caught my eye. I'm currently the high bidder, I'd like it for a little project as it's a low miler. The advert states that it has three previous owners which is another positive, but having just done a reg check it turns out that it has had six owners, with the two most recent ones only keeping the car for under a year each. This makes me wonder if the idle issue is particularly hard to resolve. Do any of you lads have any experience with similar issues and know if it is a fix I will be able to do on my driveway? I'm quite competent working on cars but I don't want to buy anything that is way beyond my capabilities. Thanks in advance. Matt

Having thought about this, I think it's possible that some of the owners may have been dealerships, and it still might say 3 previous owners on the logbook.

Still interested to know what might be causing the idling issue! A full service and new MAF sensor could fix it possibly..?

looked at this car 5 years ago. low mileage but a bit scruffy.
was in car parts yard Ealing, .check with S2 smart as they may have some history as they may have done some work as they were local to it.

I wonder why it was in a parts yard... It hasn't been recorded as being in an accident. I don't mind it being a bit scruffy, it is a project I suppose!

Ah right, nothing too alarming then. I wonder if the service history went up in smoke as well then!

Service records are all electronic- though there is a copy in a hidden pocket in drivers footwell.
Missing keys can only be sorted by mercedes- to give you an idea mine cost 180 a couple of years ago. trailering to dealer will be extra!
Odd idles can be caused by many things. one of the simplest is a hole in the inlet pipe caused by poor refitting- (not that i would know). MAF clean and throttle reset are two simple other ideas. an ODDII code reader is essential and will help narrow problems. The socket is behind a valence panel under the steering wheel.

I use a free app called "Vehicle smart"

In actually pay a few ££ for lifetime mot reminders etc

I use it to check history of potential car purchases

Same here , It's a brilliant / very usful App , the basic version is fine but the paid for version is well worth the asking price .
