Placing an exposed filter on the throttle body would be a bad idea indeed, i wasn't suggesting someone should do it, was just trying to make a point that one could do whatever he wishes as there are few limitations. Whatever placement one would choose, he should build an airtight box for the filter, otherwise he will see little or no gain from the colder and/or higher pressure air, and just benefit from a possible decrease in flow restriction if it is the case.

Apologies from me if you took my reply as a 'put down' Alex...it wasn't meant that way.
You are right..."one could do whatever he wishes as there are few limitations".

induction kit onto throttle body then use pipe already there, into an enclosure around the induction......or one of those viper kits where the air pipe feeds directly into the filter...

so you will end up with a set-up like this...

(think that one is the cheaper version called green dyna twist)

there is a raft of pipes available to go from 1 diameter to another

the induction roar on a n/a car is fab!!

thanks dude....

(you should get a photobucket account though - haha!!)

seems it would be quite simple to swap out the air box for a induction kit, just need to measure the 2 pipes!

If someone is considering buying an induction kit and bolting it to the throttle body, they should also buy a small filter for the breather pipe that connects to the large rubber pipe coming from the airbox and into the throttle body, or t-ing into the new kit, although i wouldn't do that, because i suspect the stuff coming through breather pipe is one of the reasons the throttle valve has to be cleaned.

Forget all that, just sell it and buy a diesel !!  Get the 68hp CDI and map it. The tax is cheaper too !
