Brabus ForFour oil filter - shortage of stock !
« on: September 03, 2016, 12:22:48 AM »

This afternoon whilst I was at S2 'gleaning' info for the forum
Rob advised me that Smart GB have nil stock of oil filters for
the Brabus (part # A1221800110). MB/Smart Colindale (London)
have had 20 on back order for over a month !
In addition, a stock check at MB Germany and for EVERY dealership
in Europe has shown that there is nil stock anywhere !

On hearing this Rob called his local Mitsubishi parts department
and was advised by them that the 'usual' part number MD322508
was no longer available and had been superceded by a new one,
so he ordered 2 as emergency spares for the race car.
B U T, when they arrived he immediately called them
up and explained that they were not acceptable as they were
the taller oil filter designed for the Lancer EVO....and that they
will actually stick out below the cross member of even a CZT
(let alone the Brab), and would be immediately wiped out by
the first speed bump that a standard road going CZT or Brab
would drive over if more than at 5mph!

So...if anyone knows of or can find any Car spares establishments
that have genuine Mitsubishi MD322508 oil filters in stock, would
you please let us/me know....and depending on how many they have
I may buy them up and make them available on here for Brab owners.

In the unlikely event that none can be found, then I would advise
fellow Brabus owners to be very careful with any non MB or Mitsubishi
replacement oil filters that they purchase.
Pick a reputable brand, such as Bosch, Mann, or Fram.....and measure
it to ensure that it is no taller than 65->67mm.

Be careful....be very careful of any other brand you may buy as many
are cheap copies/imports and not worth the materials they are made of.

The Mitsubishi garage in Lublin has 27 in stock. £15 each. Part number is MZ690070.
Does anyone want any?
I'm going to buy a few.
