Brabus forfour What mods next?
« on: April 15, 2015, 05:44:22 PM »

So far I have an intake, back box has been replaced with a more free flowing one. Decat. The manifolds cracked so waiting on that to turn up. What else should I get before I get it remapped to save the hassle of getting a mapped a few times and get most performance out of her

TBH you didn't need a back box...so you could have saved a bit there.
De-CAT....so you've got a CELfix then ?  If not you'll need it.
Replacement manifold ? Ok...standard ? Full blown tubular ?
Semi-standard looking but much better flowing tubular one ?
Easier if I just ask 'from whom/where ?'

And what else do you fancy/want ? How much you want to spend ?
dependant on that is what the answers will be more than anything else.

As for remap....who you asked or are going to go with.....and has
anyone else had their Brab done by them that can verify any claims ?

Backbox was purely for noise and free it up slightly.
I bought a tubular manifold from htec and going to get performance torque to map it, he has done various ralliart ecu's with just an intake he said I should see 205-210bhp on a custom tune.
I do have a cel fix for the decat recommended by one of you guys a while back.
I'm not sure what type of power could be had with what I have now to warrant injectors or fuel pump would an intercooler next be a good shout?.
Il build the intercooler myself I have a Tig welder.
I'm not looking for turbo swaps or forged internals being my daily drive. My other car is trouble enough ha.
Ive just done a service flushed and replaced all oils, changed the cambelt and checked valve clearances it drives well apart from the cracked manifold making it lose a little torque off boost unless that's down to the k&n intake (crack happened literally the same day after going triple figures on my private race track) it seems to close up when it heats up, notice the lag less.

With all the mods you've done you are an intercooler away from going for a ~225-230bhp map. There are example cars on here that have achieved 200-210 with stock set up

It's far quicker and cheaper to buy a ready made IC.....believe me,
and it will need more than just a remap and an FMIC to get 225-230bhp.

if you use it as your daily drive then stick with the OEM IC....just
get more cold air thru it as per the following 'suggestion'....

As for the remap...I wish your man all the best as Colt ECU is not
the same as the Brab. We have had instances where people have
tried using Colt maps, but they just do not work on the Brab.
They're 2 completely different cars on the tuning score.
What works for one doesn't work on the other.
But hey.....all the best, ok.

Ok so what would I need for the 225-230bhp figures? Il modify the stock ic, is it beneficial for the fuel pump to be changed to a walbro or not? What's the most that can be pushed on stock turbo? Does this ecu need to be chipped to be able to map it? Thanks for answering all my questions btw

you are basically going down the same path that Gregk2 has
already trodden looking for the power you appear to want to have,
so maybe it's better if you read through his posts/thread in the
'Show Us Your Mods' section rather than ANY of us repeating the
same stuff once again, ok.

Injectors will be maxed before fuel pump is.
