London Area meet November 2012
« on: October 23, 2012, 09:23:13 PM »

It's been THREE whole months since we all met up in Reading - it's about time we tried again!

The date is 11th November (Remembrance Sunday - Poppy Day), at South Mimms Services over Elstree way, arriving around 09:00 or so - so we can all be back home for lunch :P

It's quiet enough to park up near the back, without bothering anyone, and everything we'll need will be there.  If you don't wanna spend money on food and coffee, bring your own and we'll have a picnic ;)

DATE: Sunday 11th November 2012
LOCATION: South Mimms Services
TIME: 0900 - 0930 start

Add your name to this list (copy and paste) so we can get an idea of interest - please only add your name if you're seriously able/willing/gonna try to come along.

Any ideas of alternatives are also open to discussion, but I believe this one serves everyone in the London and Home Counties area quite well.

Is the ACE Cafe meet not on the 10th now?  Thought that they had moved it due to the Smart thing at MB the other weekend?

Yep...you are 100% correct there.....I was hoping to be able to make it to the Ace....
but I will be on a late shift that day, so that rules that one out for me....bwahhhh !
But I could make it for a meet on the 11th....so long as it doesn't go on too long as I have
a 6pm start  for a 12hour shift that day.

I'm trying hard to take a neutral stance for both meets here.....seriously.

If I say that to have another meet on top of the Ace might be a bit much, is just a small point
as the attendance of ForFours has always been a bit slim at around 4-6 cars, but then again it
is down to whatever suits everyone.  In reality the attendance at the Ace meet really needs to
be boosted rather than shyed away from in my opinion (for what it is worth).
The less of us that turn up the more it reinforces the attitude of the other non ForFour owners
to want to divorce us from the Smart fraternity..saying we don't even want to mix/fit in.
Also, the Ace is a fabulous little venue, with food to die for....(don't let me get started off about it)
and the atmosphere of the place is or can be a bit special.

As for a meet at South Mimms Services.....
As I can (at this moment in time) make that if it comes about, I must not therefore knock the
idea/suggestion.  My main concern is actually the venue itself !  Normally, the food and drinks
and cleanliness of any Motorway Services are dyer, with food overcooked, lukewarm or cold,
and undersized portions all overpriced, plus dirty tables and floors etc.  All far from inviting.
(That is why I choose to have the last meet away from the Motorway, to avoid such issues.)

Is there a place or venue around the South Mimms area that could offer us what I think we
would all like to see and have, to make it a good meet ?

As I said, I'm just voicing my opinion, but  in truth I would like both to be good meetings for
owners of ForFours.....before the cold really sets in and closes the doors on any such meet
till the sun pops it's head out next Spring.

So far we're at:

1) funkydoodycool
2) CrazyG - maybe
3) musmart - maybe
4) Scoobysook
5)

I'm gonna look for an alternative venue, perhaps somewhere more convenient for all who can come.  Doesn't really matter WHERE it is as long as it's convenient to all who want to be there...

I had forgotten the Ace meet, perhaps we should do that instead.

I'm afraid I'm gonna have to cancel this one - a general lack of interest and a poorly car are to blame - I don't think my exhaust is fixed, it keeps spewing smelly fumes into the cabin!

Anyway, we'll try again next year.  Sadly I can't make the Ace meet this weekend.
