Can anyone assist please.
Due to my little anxious puppy scratching the 1/4 vent windows on my Smart forfour 1.5 pulse, are now totally damaged. Visibility is very restricted, especially when reversing from parking lots.
Can anybody advise what it takes to remove them, can they be repaired, and does anyone know if they are they available in Australia. (Probably will have to be second hand).
If not are the available anywhere.
Regards.

if the windscreen bonding has failed, you will be able to push the windscreen up and see it flex.

best thing to do is to remove the windscreen, clean the area (and remove any corrosion) and reseal and refit

If the sealant between glass roof and top inner edge of the body has failed, you can run a bead of new sealant along the channel. I had a similar issue a couple of years ago and ran a small bead of Tiger Seal along the affected area and problem was solved.

It can come from the roof. You will see then that you have rust between roof and body, so the sealant is broke.

Go to a washbox and put pressured water on the car, then you can see what is wrong. If it whas from door sealant you have waterdrops on window, but if it is from roof you have to remove a pillar inside.

All a con really as there has been scientific evidence since the later revised DPF's were introduced
that the human body actually rejects large NOX particulates...the type produced by older non-DPF
and earlier versions of DPF filters equipped on older cars....BUT...the same evidence did confirm that
the far more smaller microscopic NOX particulates generated by the later more modern DPF's; including
those produced in regeneration; are ALL absorbed by the human body, and those are dangerous !

As a side note, from what I am aware, all UK 454 CDi's only ever had a Catalytic converter....no DPF at all !
My current 56 plate (2006) 95hp CDi only has a Catalytic converter...and the original exhaust (at the moment).
BlackCDI advised in one of his posts that apparently in Germany they installed DPF's for the last year of
production (AND.. they also installed an electronic EGR from the W169 A-class vs the vacuum operated one
from W168 A-class).

the ULEZ is mainly to get rid of older (pre 2015) diesel vehicle as they produce more NOx and particulates. cars with DPFs produce less particulates but when the DPF regen is carried out all that soot is being burned off into smaller particles so its sort of negating the effects of a DPF.

as it stands my 454 is ULEZ compliant but my mums (2013) C-Max and my (2015) XF have to pay ULEZ as they are both diesels.

even petrols have filters in the exhaust now. they have GPFs but they work differently to DPFs

Hi all I have just carried out a reg check with my 44s. It appears that they are both compliant and I can motor away as happily as possible in london.
My opinion of the scheme - not good for London trade however remains.
Just thought I would let you know.

As so many modern cars have all their electrics controlled by CANBus I think there is  high possibility that a rev counter would need to becompatible...meaning it would need to be 'enabled'.
I suggest you check with a Smart independant specialist to confirm this; as well as the cost to enable it;  preferably before buying a rev counter.

Hello everyone,
Newbie here,
am after some advice please.
Purchased a smart Forfour last weekend, 0.9 Turbo "17" plate. but it DIDNT come with the rev counter on the right hand side (not sure if its just not included in the model)
But i like them and so was wondering if its possible to add one?   , I've seen them on ebay for 129 quid and looks easy to fit but I have been told it requires a software enabling (this is what im not sure about)
Any tips or anyone done this ?    or should i get a different Rev counter.
