Title: Druridge Bay "Spring Cleaning" Car Show June 26th 2016
Post by: Wangswong on June 09, 2016, 06:37:16 PM
Good evening all.

It appears that the Druridge Bay car show's on again this year. Its being hosted by Slammed Social with the option for camping the night prior. Link below -
http://www.druridgebay.co.uk/events/spring-cleaning-car-show/

I'm going to be there again. Anyone else popping along? Be a shame to be the only mk1 44 brabus there like last year!

Cheers Graham :)

Got my mate in his ST interested. Possibly even an R8 , Dax Rush and T5 sportline on the cards too.

The organisers asking what the hell a 44 brabus is :) Also asking if I'm booking a club or not. Going to be a lonely meet seemingly :(

http://www.slammedsocial.co.uk/spring-cleaning/

Link to the actual application page.

Be warned, they ask for interior, exterior and engine bay pics, as well as a mods list........
It's like a frickin essay and they have to "approve the application"
I assume it's to keep out all the standard younguns with bean tin exhausts!

The way you're explaining it makes it sound a bit like a
"Chav's car meet".....where it's all engine revving, exhaust
popping, dump valve hissing, burbly rumbling exhausts
and bling interior with mega bass chest pumpin sound systems,
etc etc, then you're not allowed in.
As in Soobies, EVO's, Skyline's, Supra's, RS's, and the like....

If my missus drove it more, it would be slammed...... into every static object!

There are some p.o.a. slots but thought it best to reserve a space.
Good news is that it got accepted at ten to ten tonight.
Bit nervous that it may be as Graham described but hey ho.
Might even win best 44 in show :)

Hmmm.... the reason they ask for the pictures is to enter into the main event.
Now seriously flying the 44 flag.
Need to start cleaning her up over the next few days and order up some wipers as the old ones are a bit raggy.
Rear wheels are peeling and no time to sort them before Sunday.
Papping myself now folks!

Ohh, the focus ST got rejected for admission too! I've had that lads life the last few days!

If your talking a "spirited drive", let's just say that, even with its poor state of tune, the Brabus holds its own :)
Anything over 60 and he has me. Too much torque / power loss with the new bits but on B roads, he can't touch me. Partly to the fact he's not learned his limits yet and can't carry the speed in or out of the corners as well.
The ST is well worth its price tag though. Build quality is excellent. Power and torque delivery is spot on and it turns heads.
Would I own one, not a hope.
Why? Because its not quirky enough. Give me my build with a decent tune any day.
Plus, with the total cost of the build, its still cheaper than the ST second hand (think it was 14k) as opposed to around 9k for a potentially sub 5 second 44.... no brainer really!

You forgot to add the last bits:-

1/ every 'turbo nutter b-stard' has one...
2/ every 'tea leaf' in the neighbourhood will try ta nick it...
3/ the insurance is higher due to 1+2 above...
4/ those who have them don't appear able to drive them..
5/ carrying on from 4..most them are thrashed, crashed and/or trashed...
6/ they stand out like a sore thumb....
7/ PC Plod will pull them up at any time...
8/ and of course, being all steel they rust...
9/ ya mother or your partner wouldnt like it...
10/ its  a FORD....

Been cleaning bits of the inside today. Ready for a full leather conditioner and glass clean -
(http://i1143.photobucket.com/albums/n631/Karl_Barclay/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_20160623_204654_zpskaebt5oa.jpg) (http://s1143.photobucket.com/user/Karl_Barclay/media/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_20160623_204654_zpskaebt5oa.jpg.html)

Scrubbed the mats down and they now look like new.
Ordered a full autoglym kit with claybar, engine cleaner, wheel and tyre treatments... the full works.
I know she's not going to win any prizes but trying my hardest to represent the 44 community as best I can.

I knew someone would ruddy notice them!
Doing them on Saturday with her being my daily.
You didn't point out the crud on the selector though :)
Looking forward to the claybar treatment. Never used it before and our 44's seem to shine up pretty well with the right TLC.
Only thing that's a huge let down are the peeling rear wheels. Lad at works bought some plastidip so might treat them on Saturday as a quick fix

Only noticed as It's the part I always forget to do! Had an old toothbrush on them recently though.

I've been meaning to try a clay mitt for claying the car, this one gets good reviews

How does that mit remove tar etc?

Even with the clay bar and cleaner it takes some doing so with no fluid I'm not sure

Look at the ultimate finish site for a proper clay bar and cleaner - there is 7.5% off at the moment with EURO16 code

You can get a clay and decent cleaner for under £20 - I've had my clay bar and cleaner for 6 years now and it's still going

Just think you need to factor in a cleaner with the mit anyway and replacing each year

Big pack of assorted Autoglym products and a dozen micro fibre cloths will get the job done!
Used some of the leather care balm tonight, after washing the inside lightly yesterday.
All I can say is wow. Never used leather care products since the day of purchase and it looks amazing.
Down side is that there's SOOOO much leather in the car! Took forever.
(http://i1143.photobucket.com/albums/n631/Karl_Barclay/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_20160624_200527_zpsy8odzdxs.jpg) (http://s1143.photobucket.com/user/Karl_Barclay/media/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_20160624_200527_zpsy8odzdxs.jpg.html)

Even brasso'd the pedals and gearstick!

Tomorrows the hard one. Wheels off, arches and suspension etc cleaned up, wheels, claybar, polish...... Will take some pics of hopefully a new level of shinyness!

Been for a walk around the lake earlier with the family and there's a fair few dozen cars there already. Big gaggle of VW's, a group of MX5's etc.
Extreme camber galore.
Pretty much all with polishing Mits on!
Looking forward to it now

Ohh, no before pics but a nice one showing her after claybarring and polishing. Still to add the gloss layer on.

Looks good, very very shiny (much more so than mine at the moment :P) Guess you are going to leave the rear wheels as is?

I'll have to note down when this is next on - looks like it could be a good day out.

Unfortunately yes. The lads plastidip hasn't been delivered yet so a low standard by the others already parked along there.
6 hours of TLC to get her to that point.
How these other guys find the time to keep there's like new I'll never know.

Just a brief one until I upload some more pics.
Sunday was a good day. No prizes won but plenty of interest in the 44.
A pic of where I was situated -
(http://i1143.photobucket.com/albums/n631/Karl_Barclay/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_20160626_111848_zpsr3wnxius.jpg) (http://s1143.photobucket.com/user/Karl_Barclay/media/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_20160626_111848_zpsr3wnxius.jpg.html)

It wasn't quite a chav fest but pretty close.
A shed load of Imprezas, fiestas, vectras..... but a good few individual ones.
