Looks like its going ahead. Is anyone going . I know Yorkshire smart club are going on mass. Its quite a drive for a day with impatient kids wondering if its worth going?? I've looked at the flikr page from previous years and there doesn't seem too  many  forfours .

Are we meeting up and going in a tube ?

Why a TUBE ?  Cos there are no allocated parking spaces at the venue...
so it would be nice to get the ForFours together, rather than spread out
higglety pigglety amongst the other Smarts.

As per previous events at Beaulieu, may I suggest we use the same
rendezous point that we have on previous occasions ?

Meet time :- 10am  (as per previous events)
Where  :- Lyndhurst...[GPS location - SO43 7NL]
From Lyndhurst, take the A35 towards Southampton for 1/4 mile.
Turn right onto the B3056 (Beaulieu Road).  Careful here as you
have to slowly cross over a cattle grid with hedges on each side......
and immediately on the left and right after the hedges
are parking area's on both sides of the road. That's the meet point.

(Have a look on Google maps....then zoom in and you will see
via Google Earth camera pictures what and where I mean)

So far, the attendance looks like being :- (I'll update this)
(definites)                  (possibly attending)    (definite, maybe not in ForFour)
 CrazyG                          musmart                               Ocracoke
 lil.smartie                      Brulaw
 Brabs                            Problemchild
 demi900
 piskey48
 woody-r
 sajseven
 Me...!
 Frenchone (my daughter)

So...what about the rest of you members out there ?
Scoobysook ?
Gregk2 ?
Fluked ?
            To name but a few....

Most shows get swamped with ForTwo's n Roadies, so come on....
lets show them that ForFour's are part of the Smart fraternity.....right ?

453 forfours's welcome? :P Probably still dirty though!

The rendezvous point is for anyone in a Smart...
Obviously it would be nice if it were just ForFour's,
(you could even head the column Kate !), but the
main idea is a starting place for a 'Tube' to the venue.

Once we reach the venue/car park one can then split off
and join/park up with whichever group one wishes, but
hopefully the Gen1 ForFour's will stick together as we did
all down one side last year.

It's a long way down from Sheffield !
Check that the weather will be fine, otherwise I'd advise
against it in your case.

Essentially this is a a meeting at the Beaulieu Heritage Motor Museum
for Smart enthusiasts. It's a nice venue, and there are gardens/grounds
to walk around, as well of course as the Museum itself.
There is a restaurant, where fine food and tea/coffee etc is served, for
those who didn't bring a flask and sandwiches !

Checkout the Beaulieu website for more info on the Museum and facilities.

Take it from someone who drove to and from Beaulieu last year, if you are coming from somewhere like Liverpool or Sheffield, book a hotel room. It is a LONG way down and a LONG way back up.

I will try

its a long way so a good £50 in fuel

JJ
Title: Re: Beaulieu - Sunday 8th Nov 2015
Post by: CrazyG on October 06, 2015, 09:55:56 PM
£50 ! !  It's only 105 miles from your postcode to Beaulieu..
so if you cruise with an average 30mpg it'll take 3.5 gals
and be around £33 for the round trip.
But...if you go 'P2TM' then it'll defo be £50 or more. :-\

So we'll see ya there then........  :D

So everyone, 'wrap' yourself up in something nice n warm, ok.

Showers possible after about 3pm....if anyone is still there !

Going to brave it, been looking forward to this for a couple of months now and the Met Office weather forecast looks pretty much OK. Just hope the long drive is worth it.

Well, come on you guys! Drove today from Newton Abbot to Shepton Mallet for the Footman James Classic Vehicle Restoration Show at the Royal Bath & West Showground. Great show. Round trip of about 150 miles.  Then back at Newton to load up the Brab for my 3 hr drive to my overnight B&B stop in Brockenhurst. Round trip will be about 235 miles. The weather got better as I drove on and it's  going to be fine tomorrow... so come on guys, make the effort!!
 :)

The event.....
Weather wasn't that bad....exactly as per forecast...and not as
thought by some individuals....(No name's mentioned...).
Ok, so there was a light shower at about 12....but it didn't last.

Overall,  the attendance was down for all groups this year !
ForFour's only managed 8 !  (excluding 2x Gen.2's...but no lil.smartie )  :o
Last year we managed 14...so a dissappointment.
Of those 8, 3 were non-forum ! 2 said they are going to join....
and 1 said he found there were too many questions when registering
and he hadn't got time !  ???
I explained the reasoning behind all the questions (anti spammer)
but to no avail...! Even asked if I could do a 'back door' registration
or do it all for him !  Needless to say I did not respond to either.
Shame really....his black Brabus had some rather interesting kit on it...
and it would've been good for other members to have heard from him
what/where/how/who/when it was done so that they could have picked
up some tips, idea's or even hints.
The engine bay was not short of being showroom condition...it was that
clean...everywhere. It had a custom exhaust system (incl manifold..which
I recognised), K&N induction kit, and red silicone pipework everywhere.
Oh well...

Also had a few Roadie and ForTwo owners come n chat n register their
interest in aquiring a ForFour !  Be nice to have them...and maybe get
better attendance figures at Smart meets if they do....possibly.

Sorry to say that I didn't take any pictures  :-[  as spent time chatting
and keeping my daughter (she came in her ForFour) company.
Hopefully someone else may have taken some piccies....

Oh, and as usual....all the votes for the 'competitions' were won by
everything but a ForFour....as per usual !  Brabs and myself
were not amused....or really surprised.
(They're a clicky bunch the ForTwo n Roadie lot.)

Next Smart meet....(for all Smarts) is at the Ace Café next saturday..
Anyone going ? If so post on the relevant thread....   ;)

Good to go and finally getting to meet CrazyG et al. There weren't many W453s and 454s at the event but the ones that were there looked quite cool (except maybe the white and black 454 that appeared to had been driven through a muddy field...). I especially liked seeing the Starlight Silver 454 being driven by the learner - her first event I imagine.

The weather wasn't fantastic (I distinctly recall my camera getting very wet at one point) but it wasn't as bad as the forecasters said it would be. I'll grab the photos off of there (and the other one) and see if I can upload them later on tonight.

UPDATE: They are now available -> http://wirralsmarts.tk/events.php?event=beaulieu_2015 (http://wirralsmarts.tk/events.php?event=beaulieu_2015). They are very grey (much more so than I had expected) but hey, shows what was there.

Shame that none of the ForFours were even considered for the award. It was one of the things I mentioned in the "what can we do to improve" section of the form (should be model separated).

Nice one's Brab......

There were 3 rows of Roadsters, and 4 rows of ForTwo's....
And....if they were parked similarly... just about 2/3rds of a row
of ForFour's (which included 2 Gen2's.)

The interior might be water proof but the electrics arnt
Title: Re: Beaulieu - Sunday 8th Nov 2015
Post by: CrazyG on November 16, 2015, 11:26:25 PM
I have to disagree there....
I've not heard of one Crossblade that has had rain/water related
electrical issues. Mr Hyam's Ferarri red Crossblade went all the way
to Riccioné in Italy (to the SmartTimes event back in 2012 I think),
over the Alps in torrential rain for nearly all the way (averaging over
80+mph the entire journey !) and the only water ingress issue that
he had was into his waterproofs !
There was not one incidence of water into any of the car's electrics.
(I bet that fact makes a lot of Roadster owners exceedingly envious).
