Hi guys,
My 1.3 Pulse semi auto 454 has a key with remote lock/unlock but also a separate immobiliser fob. After unlocking the car with the key, you have to touch the immobiliser fob on an area close to the steering wheel so that the metal plates make contact, then, with the immobiliser disarmed you can proceed to starting the car.
I've looked at other 454's online but none seem to have this immobiliser fob... Is this an extra? Also, I have a second immobiliser fob which doesn't seem to disarm the immobiliser, any idea how I can bring it back to life?!
Thanks :)

I don't believe that this is a standard ForFour feature so it could be aftermarket. The standard immobiliser in the ForFour is tied to the ignition key's coding. I guess the battery in the second fob needs replacing?

I'll take a picture of the immobiliser fob and the 'metal contact' later today and show you guys. I don't think there's a battery inside the immobiliser fob... I'll check again :)

That sounds remarkably like a Thatcham Category 2
immobiliser has been fitted...probably because the owner
lived in an area where the insurance company demanded
it was fitted as they lived in a 'high risk' car theft area.
The keyfob will not have a battery...it is a transponder
type that is used, and the second keyfob is possibly not
for the same car...or if it is, then it is damaged.

You're spot on CrazyG... I googled what a Thatcham Category 2 immobiliser looks likes and it's exactly what my car has. Yes the fob is a transponder - no battery and it doesn't work, so I'm down to one transponder. I'm going to call my insurance company tomorrow and haggle down my premium!

For anybody who might be interested, it was a Cobra Touch Key Override Fob. I ordered one for £15 from eBay and programmed it using the enclosed instructions (very simple). Cheapshots.

And that 'Overide' thingy does what precisely ?
-
It's a misleading name, its basically the fob used the disable the Thatcham approved immobiliser (made by Cobra).

Ah...ok. thx for clarifying that. ;)
