Faux bonnet vents (requesting some)
« on: December 12, 2013, 07:58:09 PM »

Evening all.

Just posted a pic on another thread ( http://www.forfour.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=193.30 ) and it show's there's something missing.
The bonnet looks a bit spa*s so I was wondering if anyone has and "faux" bonnet vents lying around please?
Would finish the front end off pretty nicely.
I know they're cheap but "shy bairns" and all that :)
Coupling this with orange rim protectors / fly eye roof and it'll look sweet as!
Cheers.

Problem is finding the nearest to me. I think it's around 40 miles to the nearest one. (Newcastle I think)

Surely your nearest MB dealer will post them on to you?

No idea tbh.

This is the newest car I've had so contacting a dealer's always been a no no (My jag was on a V plate and the Mondeo an 02)

Bit of a noob when it comes to dealer communication :)

Will have a looksy to see which is nearest and give them a call tomorrow.

I've got the pair I removed from my bonnet.....
not new obviously...and will need skinny double sided tape to fix them down.
(I might have some somewhere).
I'll wrap them n see what 'postie' will wanna charge me to send them to you.
But please....do not expect me to do it that quick....
Its crimbo time and I have lots going on, ok.

Cheers for that CrazyG

I'll have to take some pics of how the 3M vinyl works (or doesn't!) it's way into the vents.

Don't worry about tape. Got a load of number plate pads of various sizes lying around somewhere. Remarkably handy for fixing the kiddies toys I might add.

And the time scale thing is understandable also. Just happy that you've replied with such kindness and it's appreciated.

On the Christmas theme, got my son a Nintendo 3DS XL and "tested" it before it got boxed up..... got a feeling he's going to be wrestling it off me on Christmas day! Fantastic little device.

They will not wrap - they have a honeycomb texture to them. Leave them black or paint them ;)

I still reckon that the vinyl will pick up the detail.
The tester was on the wheel centre caps and the vinyl worked it's way into the "B" nicely.
Granted, it took the back of a ball point pen to push the vinyl in but it still worked.

It'll be interesting to see if they wrap - but I don't think they will, the gaps are much smaller than the B on the wheel caps, and there's a lot less surface to adhere to.  Still, prove us wrong :)  I'm glad you mentioned it though, cos my first thought when I saw this thread was "they'll be awesome orange on the car!

I had a 3DS when they came out, awesome bit of kit, but no games at the time.  Some fun ones coming now so I might have to get an XL.  Maybe you should paint it black and orange so your kid sees it's like Daddy's car!
