Title: Advice on wheel mods
Post by: PaulMarshall on September 22, 2013, 03:18:26 AM
Want to replace the 14 inch rims with something real that will still be on when returning from a movie.
Will aftermarket rims fit my car? are the stud patterns common?
Will it affect the speedo? and if so how do i fix?

All advice very appreciated.  :)

If one looks in the relevant section on the Forum, namely...
Wheels, Brakes, and Suspension...and even perhaps looks in the Technical section
within that, you will see various posts about wheels etc that will answer your questions.  ;)

Suffice to say, 4 stud, 114.3 PCD (Pitch Circle Diameter), and ET (offset) between 40-48mm,
though officially 46mm is the standard. Less than 42 may possibly require thin
spacers to ensure the inner edge of the tyres/rims have suspension clearance.
Centre bore also is important...67.1mm
If the centre bore is larger, then 'spigot' rings can be bought/used to allow the wheel
to fit properly on it's centre.
Diameters..14" - 17", though 18's could be fitted but would be a waste and drain power.
(besides...the ultra low profile rubber you would need would give a back jarring ride)
Width....from 6J to 9J. 7J (or 7") are about optimum, with 8J for the Brabus.
The profile of any tyre you fit will depend on the diameter and width of wheel, but the
rolling radius should not exceed 2% of the original..to keep your speedo reading ok.
