Air is drawn into the cylinder of a diesel engine and compressed by the rising piston at a much higher compression ratio than for a spark-ignition engine, up to 25:1. The air temperature reaches 700-900 C, or 1300-1650 F.

Fun in the rain....I think not.....window down (rain comes in)...door down...(more rain in)...
(and if more than one person then even more rain gets in) ....fianlly everyone out, and then
there's a delay while the door slowly closes (letting more rain in), and eventually the window
closes.  By which time the inside will be something like kiddies paddling pool !  Sorry...not for me.

And...the extra strength and rigidity required would mean lots of extra metal (aka weight),
unless the doors were a reinforced aluminium frame with plastic or composite skins. But even then,
the locking mechanism/s would have to be at more than one point.  And that would translate into
complications if the car was in a a road traffic accident.
I can just see a door like that partially dropped down and jammed after an accident...with
no one able to get out or in unless/until the roof was cut off.
Oh and then there's the electrics....imagine them failing and you having to drive with it down...
and it's raining. Great for your clothes, hairdo, and image if you are a woman in the car.
Definitely not for me.......

Nevertheless.....it's a nice concept....but just not practical.
Give me gull wings doors or Lambo'esque' type ones any day.

Definitely not safe in a crash. I myself like rear suicide doors with normal front ones :D

I prefer rear suicide doors instead. Anyone selling the bolt-on kits here?
