Inconsiderate towards Smart cars
« on: December 23, 2010, 02:56:22 PM »

This morning I took "Little Un", my Fortwo out for a run for a couple of hours. On the way back along the A38 Nr Slimbridge I was right behind a tractor doing about 25 mph. Behind and right up my backside was a Vectra. On getting to a safe stretch of road to overtake the tractor, I did the necessary , M,S,M and pulled out to get bye. The Vectra wasn't going to have me getting past first. We ended up three abreast on a single carriage way. Impatient B-----D. He shot off up the road in smoke. Probobly a diesel. Fortunately nothing came the other way and the road was just wide enough for all three of us. Phew !!!!!!! I bet he wouldn't if i'd been in "Big Un", the Forfour.

It happens... I've also had that sort of back seat passenger problem while driving my ForFour...
Other drivers either are Idiots or think Smart cars are too slow to be behind... Even when doing the speed limit. :P

The funny thing is most of the time my 1.3 Softouch can take them anytime at a dual carrageway...

;D I try to ignore it now cause it ain't worth the road rage...
Hehe... but its difficult if you get road rage easily... like me  ;)

There are quite a lot of peops who do not like Smart cars.....and, as has been said, they think all Smart's are slow.

And woe betide if you dare overtake them in a Smart car !  It's like a red rag to a bull.  But I love that 'game'.....! ! !
It makes me laugh and smile when peops try and follow n overtake when I'm in my Brab ForTwo...or my modded ForFour....
I slowly creep the speed up....I just wish I had a camera to have caught the looks on their faces when they suddenly
see how fast they're going.....and it's 'only' a slow little Smart car in front of them ! (Yeah right !)

[Sorry folks, but for legal reasons I cannot put into writing the speeds I've 'dragged' these morons along behind for a while...hehehe]

Here in MY, smart owners are usually taunted and bullied by Proton owners/drivers. They think smart cars are slow and unsafe at high speeds. Try comparing a EuroNcap 4 star car vs a 3 star Waja (Impian in UK).

Well, a few 4/4 owners have proven them wrong many times. We mod and soup up our beloved 4/4s and give these owners a scare.

Mr Singh...have no regrets, you've got yourself a great car.  It serves its purpose well, and gets you from A to B
in a way that makes you ahppy. And...you get dam good mpg + cheap insurance. But most of all, you enjoy driving it.

Ok, so I have a modded diesel, but I'll be honest and tell you that at times I wish I'd bought a Brabus...more often
a 1.3 petrol.....or even had a 1.1 to thrash about in !  But i've got a diesel.....it was what was offered to me at the time.
It's not all about speed, as some of these posts would suggest or make you think. It's about the pleasure of ownership
and how you feel when driving it.  Which would you rather be happy in...a 2004 Fiesta..a 2004 FIAT....or your ForFour ?
I think you know the answer to that, eh ?

A forfour it is... 5 to 10 years down the road, our cars will still be there (since it is no longer in production) and unique (just like the old Beetle). By then, how many generations of Ford, Fiat and even Toyota will occupy the road?

I'm tempted at a few mods on my 1.1 but they are all so expensive. That's for another thread !

My best is out dragging a Mk3 Polo GTI (as it was badged), he shouldn't of rev'd his engine at me cos he got embarrassed in front of his mates as I bombed off up the dual carriageway. Sportstart, always, always great fun when needed. hee hee

I did lose out to an Elise tho, why he tried it on I don't know!
