Possible Date : Sun 22Jul, Sun 29Jul, Sun 05Aug.
Where:- NEAR - Reading Services
Why: Just a general get together, to say 'Hi', to make friends, get to
know one another, talk ForFours, discuss just about anything....
over a friendly cup of tea or coffee, with snacks, or whatever suits.

I do hope we can arrange something soon, and maybe something regular.
I joined this forum because everyone seemed friendly, and it will be nice
to take that offline. I can't often make outside meets due to other commitments,
so a local-ish meet would be perfect for me !
On the subject of this meet if it goes ahead, somewhere like Reading Services could
be a better venue for the London contingent, as it will be less obtrusive on other
peoples space, and.... there's no charge for parking ?

Guys...I'm going to move the venue a wee fraction from Reading Services...
1/ there's no way if you're travelling Eastbound that you can get to
the Westbound Services, and vice versa.
2/ I've been reading on-line comments about Reading Services ! !
(both East and West)...and it's put me right off the place.
3/ And they have a 2hr parking limit restriction !
So...I suggest taking the exit at Jct 12 of M4 close to Reading Services,
and head North up the A4 for less than a 1/4 mile to a roundabout.
Turn left and you are into a shopping estate. It has a McDonald's, Boots,
Sports Direct, Next, and a rather large Sainsbury's Supermarket !
Meeting point to be McDonald's, which is the 2nd left as you drive in..
and meet time is from 9am if you want to get there that early.
9.30am may be better...and you will still have time for the Breakfast menu.
If necessary we can move to the larger main Sainsburys car park.
Is that better/OK ?

most of these car parks also have a 2hr limit as well.... :'(
but at least with a few shops, we can carpark hop :)

That's my local on way home fuel station from work- and it is very cheap compared to the ones near home in west London. There is a cheap shell just off junc 11 for the vPower junkies amongst u! The parking restriction shud b fine as we will be with the cars for most of the time I expect.

I would have thought that one or other Fox/LadyV would do that automaticaly
considering as they are the joint 'operators' of the site. But ok....I'll mosey on over
there and post it up. DONE

Unfortunately I am working on 22/07/12 and cannot make it.

Still time for those interested...or possibly interested...to let me know if you
can make it to this mini meet of ForFours.....
Come on....get to meet fellow owners.....and no you don;t have to talk ForFours
or cars or football or Ohlimprics or the banking crisis, or the meaning of life LOL....
If this goes well we could make it a meet every 2 or 3 months.....too much for most
to make to more than that. And it doesn't look to be too bad a place to meet....unless
someone finds something similar for the next one...say in September or whenever.
(Can't do August due SmartTimes...or October due to SmartFestival)

Hi everyone, I have an update and unfortunately Mazziel and I won't be able to attend. We have done a car swap for a month as my friend needed a high MPG car and as we have the cdi we had to offer. I am now burdened with driving a 230bhp RX8 for a month, so my wallet is going to take a beating for fuel money!

hm... I'd like to make that. I have a 21st party the night before so I'll try and behave... even though the theme is Ann Summers. I'll just have to clean my car finally (rain or shine) as the seagulls have shown their disapproval of my car. Hopefully see you there.
If you happen to notice...I tried fixing the intercooler blockage but I had an issue with an overseeing peer and I wasn't getting in to ANOTHER argument about it >:(.

If you can't get there for around 9 - 9.30am....get there for 10am
(McD's breakfast menu finishes at 10:30....for those interested or in need of sustenance)
I'm not reckoning on peops staying longer than maybe 2hrs.....but hey, be nice
to meet everyone and maybe grab any shopping you forgot from Sainsbury's,
and/or cheapo fuel for your wee beasties....

Hopefully the glorious sun that's out there right now will hide himself away for long enough for me to wash and polish my motor without streakiness.
Otherwise... well it'll have to stay filthy.

Good times - nice to meet everyone there! Reinforced the idea that Smarties are good folks :)
Six cars, eight people. Not too shabby for a first attempt me thinks. A few nice cars with some nice styling ideas going on. Needless to say, Musmart's looked the best. Lovely shade of white.
A few good things were learned too - we learned about Plasticoat, jailbreaking iPhones, Appradios and how much Musmart likes Happy Meals "to get the toy for his kid".

Well folks....today was the day of the meet near Reading....
A band of 6 cars with 8 brave fellows struggled thru the early morning sleep
barrier to make it in time for a McD's breakfast and coffee/orange juice.
And later, after much chatting and exchanging of names/details/and other
friendly banter we stood our ground and soaked up the blazing summer sunshine.
All admitted to it being a good meet at an ideal venue and on a perfect day.
The venue was busy, no doubt about that, but all the crs got admiring looks from
those who drove/walked by.... which was appreciated.
So good was it that another meet is tentatively planned for September....

It really was a good meet as anyone who attended and posts up after this will agree.

Hello everyone.
Initially I was not sure how the meet would be or how long it would go on for. But I had a great time chatting to everyone and putting a face to the name! I got there abit late after a late night yday but it was well worth it, and we all stayed there chatting for ages with the time passing really fast.
Thanks to the organisers and those that came for all their advice. To those that didnt/couldn't, try and make the next one defo

Guys so sorry I missed it. I've been living in lah lah land! I thought it was this weekend (as I was away last weekend) I'm gutted I've missed it. Pictures look amazing!
What cracking weather for it as well. I'm sure I'll met some of you guys soon anyhow. Can't wait for the next meet now!

Once I know my plans for August weekends I'll be posting a new thread for a cheeky August meet for anyone that can't go to Antwerp for the big Smart do.
After that I think the general consensus is to do this every 3 months or so. I'd like to do it regular.
Possibly the next one might me a bit more northerly, somewhere like Oxford or Gloucester so not TOO far for the London crowd, but hopefully include a few people further out too.

We should get some suggestions for meets. See where people are coming from and then correlate a middle point to meet. Perhaps we should do a post of possible attendees and their location and work it out from there. 6 peeps lastime, hopefully more next time

Scoobysook...we have a slight problem here in that not everyone
filled out their 'location' when they completed their profiles.....
AND....I have not as yet been successful in finding out how to get that
to show in everyone's avatar that appears in the posts.
I'll keep working on it, but unless everyone will reply to a 'global'
e-mail from me with their location then I'm afraid it will be hard
to do a list of who is where in this fair land of ours ! :'(
There have been many and various attempts to get peops interested
in meets, but until this last one that I organised the reponse has
been limited to say the least, with many proposals falling flat.
I had always hoped that each area/region of the UK might find a
'champion' to set up meets for their own areas, but so far even that
hasn't come to fruition. But...rather than be on a downer....I am
so pleased this event came thru and that everyone enjoyed it.
Yes I would like to do it again, and I was hoping for September
sometime......however.......
S2smarts are planning one of their 'open days' again...in Spetember,
so maybe that would be the ideal venue and time to have another
meet, albeit not just ForFours.....but we could form our own little
corner group and huddle together...(hehehe).
Keep your eyes out and I'll post up details on that event as and when
I get the word from 'the man in charge and his other half' ;)

No probs G. Perhaps we could start another thread, eg where r u? Here people can post and include there location too, and send an email also as a prompt to post on it. Like funky kinda said- our cdi's can go to wherever we want to host the meet! Keep up the good work chaps

I'm quite happy to be the "champion" for our little area if you like - I quite enjoyed our recent gathering.
As for September.... I'll be away for 2 weeks of it, and working the other two... so fingers crossed I can get to S2 when it's on! I'll be annoyed if it doesn't work out again, even though I'm going away for a very good reason this time ;)

Looks like you had a blast, wish I could have made it but I was a taxi that weekend as both the LDV and KIA were U.S. Starting motor and a belt idler went. Got to bed at 4am Sunday and was up shortly after >:(.
