Title: 1.3L Passion Petrol ForFour Possible Mods?
Post by: W00kie on November 06, 2013, 08:51:24 AM
Hey guys,

So ive been getting alot of bonus moneys from work and am wanting to spend it on my forfour 1.3L. Ive been going through the forums but I cant seem to find any engine mods for the 1.3L?
Can I add a turbo to it? Is it possible? Or if naturally asp then what mods can I throw at it to give it more oompf?

Thanks guys and sorry if this has been discussed previously.

PS I tried that sportsmode the 1.3 has and I nearly smashed into the golf in front of me hahah (he was about 100m away) . Totally wicked!

Cheers,
W00kie

I'm afraid engine mods are not available for our 1.3. You can try to find (or make) an undersized pulley to release 1-2hp, and also try a lighter flywheel for a more responsive engine. Other than that, a set of light wheels and tires, and remove the backseat.

To do a turbo conversion you'd need a lot of money, more than the difference in price between yours and a brabus, and you'd end up with nowhere near the power of the brab.

I agree with Alex's  comments, but l would say that with so many
constraints on motoring (speed camera's etc) that the next best thing
is improve the handling and braking......and not forgetting a decent ICE.

So.....why not think about the Bilstein coilover suspension, for starters.
As for wheels....there are so many to choose from. Ditto for your ICE.

Do the blistein coilovers work on the non-brabus forfours (do they have the extra mounting point for the anti roll bar links?)

Yep I agree with the above. Even if a turbo conversion was possible lists not just a question of that. To make the car safe you would need to upgrade the brakes, suspension, wheels. That's why Brabus did all that!

YES and YES.  :)
Why not combine having them fitted whilst your car is in for a service
as it could possibly save you money rather than 2 separate visits.
Or..you could try doing yourself...but you would need decent spring
compressors and maybe a garage airgun etc to undo the strut top
mounts and the top shock absorber nuts !
Shame in a way that you're round the other side of the world in Oz,
or I could've recommended a good place to have it all done over here.

For wheels...as a suggestion...see if anyone has Colt (2004-2008) alloys
for sale around your area. 16" or 17" diameter.  CZT one's are not bad.

Sell the 1.3, add £1k and get a BRABUS - best £ per bhp spend.

They aren't that expensive to insure.

Absolutely! You don't just get the power increase, you get all the other Braabus goodies too! Bit of a no brainier really.  ;)

Yep i agree with others sell your 1.3 and get a brabus if you're not too bothered about no AMT, increased insurance cost/road tax and fuel economy.

that's the best "investment" you can make! As discussed in another post save yourself the trouble and the time to tune-up your 1.3 as it would cost way more than 1k.
