Here are some pics of the Smart Racing Club ForFour BRAB that will be entering the Britcar 24 hour race at Silverstone in October - the first time any 'Smart' model will have competed in such an event.

Membership to the Smart Racing Club is now available here...

...with lots of benefits and freebies (lanyard and stickers etc)

I'm happy and sad at the same time. I'm happy that a Smart is entering the Britcar 24hr, but I'm sad that it could see the end of a ForFour !

I'll see if 'we' can't get them to run with a couple of our website stickers on it....
though if motorsport in general is anything to go by, they'll want paying for it !

Here's info for you JJ....
The car actually belongs to Al Young ! !   That's right...THE Al Young of TheSmartClub.

And it's going to have fitted a full roll cage (that'll do wonders for the interior).
basically all the inside has to be gutted.....and the front hoops will go round the front door
frame and take a chunk out of each end of the dashboard ! !  Niiccceee  ! !   :o
Mountings platforms for the roll cage welded to the floor too....hmmmmm even nicer   ???
I hope they put baffles in the sump to stop oil surge...and I'm surprised it hasnt got a scoop
for a cold air feed !  No sign of any 'adapted' Forge intercooler either, or a custom exhaust.
But it might just possibly have a remap....

All I can say is...after the thrashing it will have taken around the track for 24hrs and all those
'mods' so that it can race, it won't be worth as much as it was before.

But hey...I had considered buying a manual diesel, mapping it etc and and entering it......
I just couldnt find a cheap enough diesel.....

Yeah - I know it's al's car.... He also runs a car in the fortwo cup :)

It'll be a good test of that Mitsubishi lump!!

The Smarts4YouRacing guys said they thought about the diesel, but you had to be within a certain lap time to be in the race, and they didn't think the diesel would make that time.....

It's not been sprayed, it's been 'wrapped' and then had the trimmings/stickers added.
That way it can be put back to it's orig colour after the event with very little effort,
plus wrapping it will mean less paintwork damage to the original colour underneath.

I NOMINATE (DEMAND ACTUALLY) THAT AL YOUNG'S CAR BE ENTERED IN THE
'MOST MODIFIED SMART' COMPETITION HELD AT THE SMARTFEST 10TH SEPT 2011.

All in favour send him a PM..but not right now...in a week maybe (he's a member on
here)...and demand that as an owner of the said car, that he puts it into the
competition.
As the Chairman of TheSmartClub, there is no way that it would not win...
or that peops would not vote for 'his' car...being as who he is n all.

What a victory that would be for owners of the ForFour if he did win it, eh ?

Whilst I'm sure he'd love to win Most Modified smart and would appreciate such support from the forfour owning community, PLEASE don't all PM him - he's been up all night driving the forfour back from the workshops - I can't imagine he'd take too kindly to the influx of mail just at the moment. Graham, maybe a poll?

In any case, surely he'd have competition from any of the S4R BRABUS fortwo racing cars?

The forfour will be on show at smart times in Italy next week, and then again at Snetterton (August 13/14th) and finally just ahead of it's 24hr race it'll be at thesmartfestival.

Sorry G, I don't think it would win...

There's not nearly enough speakers, fibreglass multiple subwoofer installs, garish and awfully drawn airbrushed 'artwork', dials inside to tell you what every part of the car is doing but don't because they're just for show, TV screens showing 'RnB' rappers, fluffy cuddly toys and aftermarket chromed plastic bling on that car for it to even be considered.

Also, it has too many wheel nuts.

Wow Al, seriously does look absolutely amazing. I can't wait to see it!

Do you think you could sway it to do some demo driving around the tracks at the smart festival? Show off the speed, handling and general awesomeness?

this are the calipers

not quite as big as my wilwood rotors but I like very much - good colour options!!

i'm interested in the power side of things too (as are most BRAB owners i bet)

probably get a decent bhp increase from exhaust and intercooler change
