Title: A smart day out at Gaydon - Sat 16th August
Post by: J500ANT on May 23, 2014, 11:30:59 AM
A smart day out at Gaydon.

Hello all!

Saturday August 16th from 10am.

As there will be no smart Festival this year, the idea was to nominate a central location and invite all smart owners along. There are no activities planned over and above the museum facilities offered by www.heritage-motor-centre.co.uk - it's more about meeting other owners, be amongst the cars, have a picnic (weather permitting).

All are welcome, the maximum ticket cost is £12 per person and there are different concessions offered.

Lets make it a smart day out !

Who with a ForFour is going / gonna make the effort ?
(updated as n when I/we know who is attending)

tallj49
mr singh
99%chimp    (work permitting)
CrazyG         (sorry...no can do...)
demi 900
chaz1           (definitely maybe !)
Fox              (possibly maybe)

Again? No smart festival... again?

Is there to be/has there been an official announcement regarding this?

Well, it's been a while since there was a meet at Gaydon... wonder if that plaque did ever make it there?

So no SmartFestival again eh ?

I'm betting it's cos Smart are going all out to get the new models
ready n released in time. That in itself is rather strange, as the time
for that is about the same as the Festival would normally be held.
Why didn't or haven't they manouvered it so that it does co-incide ?

Or is this MB/Smart making a complete b@lls up as usual and missing
out on a golden oppurtunity to have launch day and the Festival together !
Or is it just that the massive MB/Smart UK Head Office at MBWorld in
Weybridge just isn't a big enough venue to 'stage' such an event ?

(I bet they'll blame it on the weather for the time of year... :-\ )

But I digress...and i should know better than to 'hi-jack' a thread  ;)
Gaydon....if I'm not working, then I'll make the effort...
weather permitting...hahahaha

I think there were a grand total of 4 ForFours there including mine and Nanak's.

Ah...one that didn't say they were going to attend  :-[
But well done anyway.  At least 4 managed it, which is
something I guess.  I'm thinking that if it had been a Sunday
then perhaps a few more might possibly have made it.

i only saw 3... yours mine and another member's (couldn't miss him he was TALL!!!)

when i turned up i felt out numbered being the only forfour there. it was a good day out but a shame that more forfours didn't show. i did get some owners commenting on my forfours colour combo

Poor excuse...most local supermarkets have hand car washes...
or in the local vicinity... that are manned by 'ex' Eastern Europeans
that will do the lot (outside for £7, or full valet for £12) in just 15 to
20 minutes or so.  Far far less time than it would take you or I to do it.

i havent had enough free time to get it washed... i get home at 6:15pm, hand car wash places are shut... even at tesco extra on the ring road as you come off the A64... weekends iv been busy with family things... birthday parties, weddings, engagements, etc. most of which were NOT local!

my car is spotless on the outside most of the time, this was a one off!!!

OK...enough of the light hearted comments now....
no harm was intended or infered...apologies if any were taken.

TBH I'm proud that the 4 of you represented us all at the meet....
and I think that underneath it all, we acknowledge that.
