Title: Fuel consumption and performance whilst towing.
Post by: Lord Robert on June 02, 2010, 12:29:18 AM
Well, Ive just returned from North Wales and Shropshire, and can now say that my
cars towing performance was excellent !
The caravan weight was just under the 750k towing weight limit, and the nose weight
was at 42k. In the car, we had all our clothes, including cold and wet weather gear,
but we didnt need that coz the weather was good to us. Also a box of food and some
drinks, the telly and satellite gear, and the usual box of odds and sods for the car.
Oh. and all my fishing gear !

You can see from the pics, that its pretty low on its suspension, (probably caused by
my wife's shoe collection, lol) but it made a lovely smooth ride !
Fuel consumption whilst towing was 33mpg on BP ultimate diesel, and averaged just
over the 50mpg touring around without the caravan.

My mini dish statelite system on top of the lightweight washing line tripod from the
range, (£20), worked a treat whilst units <br />with normal tv aerials were having
trouble cos of that line of trees !

Excellent....
Caravaning can be enjoyable.....unhampered by lengthy check in queues, emigration controls,
security checks, ATC disputes, broken baggage carousels, volcanic ash clouds and striking cabin crews !

Great photos photos by the way.
