Help
« on: October 17, 2014, 09:46:59 PM »

Busy buying bits and bobs for the rebuild (all in the other thread)

Ordered the front strut brace and I'm trying to confirm if this will fit -

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/380921869085?_trksid=p2060778.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Any clues folks?

I just literally pm'd you!

Would you happen to have a link to one that will fit please?

Got a nasty feeling I may have purchased the wrong front brace too -

I hope not!

So I see!
Seems the front lower has the biggest effect so may put one on once the engines in there.

Contacted the seller saying it's a genuine mistake buying the wrong one (well, sheer stupidity tbh) and if they have the right one, great, I'll have that. If not, please cancel it and I'll buy the correct one.

The Ultra Racing front lower brace is basically a lot of tubes that bolt
to exactly the same mounting points as the existing front subframe,
which TBH is in itself a chunky and somewhat solid piece of metalwork
anyway, so I for one am not convinced it does much, apart from lighten
one's wallet.
That and I've not seen or read of any or many Colt CZT owners extroling
the virtues of them or raving about them. That's not to say they don't
work...I'm just reserving my judgement on them is all.

And as for the Ultra Racing 'rear strut brace'......
Sorry JJ,  know you have one of these yourself, but it doesn't actually sit
or mount on the strut tops, so it shouldn't 'technically' be called a rear
strut brace !
It fits/bolts/mounts where the rear seat belt anchorage points are, and
what bothers me is that it flexes when it's bolted in place. Why ? Well
at the ends of tube that goes across the car there are plates or arms that
stick out and are welded at 90 degrees to the main tube, and the mounting
is made at the end of those arms/plates, and they flex !

Having said that, there is a 'proper' rear strut brace tube that fits directly
from the ends of the tube to the tops of the rear shock absorbers that stick
up through the rear stut tops. So this is a genuine rear strut top brace and
with no flex at the ends, and I've seen them fitted on a few Colts CZT's.
The cost is from £70. Interested ? Send me a PM and I'll send a link to the
manufacturer/supplier. (I've got one...just not fitted it yet !)
