Buckled wheel...
« on: March 09, 2011, 07:25:20 PM »

I've spoken to the people I'm buying the car from tonight. Before leaving a deposit I wanted email confirmation that the car was sound. No dents/scratches/no marks to alloys. They've said that the front nearside wheel is buckled but apparently is making no difference to the driving and cannot feel it in the steering wheel-all of which I'm taking with a pinch of salt.

A few questions - can the alloys be repaired? If so how much and can anyone recommend a place. I've found one place - www.midlandsmars.co.uk although a bit far for me in Bristol.
And can new alloys be bought? If so at what price?

Anything advise will be much appreciated

The standard Brabus alloys are very soft and they often buckle, so it's not at all uncommon. Secondhand wheel's pop up from time to time on the forum and on ebay. Most Brabus drivers buy the wider rear wheels and put them on the front to aid traction.

So if that's the only problem the car has, then I don't think it's such a big deal. Are the other more important, things alright ? Intermediate oil changes ? Cam belt change ?

Thanks both for your comments. It's re-assurring to read this. When he told me I felt a bit down about it, but positive thinking ! He's going to hopefully take a photo of the wheel tomorrow to send to me, so I'll soon see what he means. I guess if it's drivable without noticing then it can't be too bad - although that's his words not mine.

When is the cambelt change due ? This is a 56 on 29k and I don't think it's been done yet. They read the service history out to me, it's recently been done at a Merc specialist and before that Citroen.
