Here's a link to a site with loads of photos of both models and some videos, plus a link to show the 5,000 word Daimler Press Release:
http://www.rushlane.com/2015-smart-fortwo-forfour-12125283.htmlMy humble opinion, for what it's worth... It looks like they started designing it at the back - which looks good - and were doing really well until they got to the front... when they completely lost the plot!
As for the interior, it looks like a triumph of form over function...
* The bright colour dash may look funky, but reflections in the Windscreen would be a real pain in the a*s on sunny days.
* Gone are the useful storage shelves on the dash and cubby-hole under the Radio.
* No armrest - well at least not in any picture I've seen so far.
* The heater controls would need you take your eyes off the road to see what button you are pressing - whereas ours being tactile are quick and easy to use by feel alone.
* Changing the ICE looks like it will be impossible
The only thing I've seen that is an improvement... the window switches are in a better position.
So will I be rushing out to change my Brabus for one of these ForTwo Estate Cars
Most definitely not !!!
But then I was never going to anyway...
...because we knew a long time ago that they weren't setting out to build a faster, better-handling version of what I've got now
Will it succeed this time
Probably - because it shares so many components with the ForTwo and the Twingo, economy of scales mean that Daimler will make money on it despite lower sales volumes as there will be enough people out there that love this 'love it / hate it' car...
...maybe they should have called it the Smart Marmite
