I think they got the styling wrong and it won't appeal to the masses, i bet the Twingo is much more successful.

It looks about as appealing as the new Citroen in the TV advert that's being
pushed on the TV at the moment......the white car with red 'accents' etc....
again, the front is just as f'ugly as the ForTwo/Four.

And...dare I say...they're all now looking like clones of one another, which
is where our ForFour won out.....it was different to the rest of the pack.

Not that impressed , the fortwo looks " pre crashed " and  the forfour looks like they got the repairs wrong on the crashed fortwo ( stretched the back out on the jig by mistake )   , also the door handles on the fortwo look out of proportion ( to big ) , and the forfour has now got  Renault look door handles instead of the distinctive Smart style handles , But .... the interiors do look very well done , and as has been said colour choice could be a big factor in the looks department .

Still prefer the original ( ours )

No sign of Mitsubishi launching a new Colt

i think you will find that Mitsubishi has dropped the 'Colt' name in favour of what its called in Japan 'Mirage'

as for the forfour mk2 and the fortwo mk3... ill make my mind up when i see it in the showrooms.

Here's a link to a site with loads of photos of both models and some videos, plus a link to show the 5,000 word Daimler Press Release:

http://www.rushlane.com/2015-smart-fortwo-forfour-12125283.html

My humble opinion, for what it's worth... It looks like they started designing it at the back - which looks good - and were doing really well until they got to the front... when they completely lost the plot!

As for the interior, it looks like a triumph of form over function...

* The bright colour dash may look funky, but reflections in the Windscreen would be a real pain in the a*s on sunny days.

* Gone are the useful storage shelves on the dash and cubby-hole under the Radio.

* No armrest - well at least not in any picture I've seen so far.

* The heater controls would need you take your eyes off the road to see what button you are pressing - whereas ours being tactile are quick and easy to use by feel alone.

* Changing the ICE looks like it will be impossible

The only thing I've seen that is an improvement... the window switches are in a better position.

So will I be rushing out to change my Brabus for one of these ForTwo Estate Cars ???
Most definitely not !!!  :(

But then I was never going to anyway...
...because we knew a long time ago that they weren't setting out to build a faster, better-handling version of what I've got now ;D

Will it succeed this time ???

Probably - because it shares so many components with the ForTwo and the Twingo, economy of scales mean that Daimler will make money on it despite lower sales volumes as there will be enough people out there that love this 'love it / hate it' car...
...maybe they should have called it the Smart Marmite :P

It's interesting to note that the For two and Forfour are being made in different countries. As the Twingo and For four are being made on the same line it'll be easy to scale back production on one or both without having to sever the partnership with Renault.
Apart from the dubious prospect of a four seater rear wheel drive, I have to say I think the Twingo is a prettier car. The straight, clean lines make it look sleeker than on the stretched For two with two extra doors.

i know i won't be buying one ever......

and not because im die hard original forfour fan but because i find it dull totally and all the proportions seem wrong. Looks like one of those new vauxhal vans :(

if i was to buy a funky small car i'd go for the new Citroen C1..

..or for a hot hatch it would be the mazda 3 mps

Agreed...that's why they're loading it all on one side.....
one in front left and one in rear left....tandem like.
BUt....
would you load that mega heavy flat pack furniture in your brand new car ?
I don't think so, unless you have too much money or don't care if you
damage it...or more than likely...if it's a hire/loan car !
