Having read your input, think I'll steer clear!      In trolling through various posts since I'm sure I saw one which stated that it should not be necessary to adjust valves in "modern cars" including the forfour ?

That is an expensive trolley jack!

I also like the stands with bars not ratchets. They feel sturdier. When you are under a car, you want to feel like it is very sturdy!

What ? The Costco one...nah.
When you actually see what you get it's great value, and better made
than many many others. Also it's aluminium, so it's light. I know, I have one.
It's ultra low, and long, and only takes 4 full pumps  (I think) to reach full height.
And it's full height is higher than most other trolley jacks.
Only one word of advice....keep it level, never tip it up on either end.
(If you do it gets air in it and takes a while to get that out by standing)

I dunno, I think I paid about £40 for mine and it cranks up high enough for me to get axle stands in where I need to and do the work I need to do. Any further I'd tip the car!

tbh, lightness is something I don't think I would want, I'd rather it weighed a lot so I know it will stay where I put it.

It looks good though and well made but I would put more bucks into my axle stands. Any jack should only be used to raise up and not to hold the vehicle in place - just secondary support.

the costco products are VERY well made......from tool boxes to chicken kievs.

the ebay one i posted up was £50 but the reviews are poor(ish) and the seller mentions in one comment on -ve feedback that parts are available for replacing broken parts - i don't want a jack to break ever ;)

ok - so its gonna get light use.

my current set is a RAC set from halfords and it was £35 for a trolley jack, 2 x axle stands (metal pins) and 2 x chocks.........but they are far from heavy duty.

hmmmmmm

its actually part of the service interval, they need adjusting every 50,000 miles.

Sorry to be pedantic but they possibly need checking not necessarily adjusting.

Mine is just a Halfords one for £20, and it's done me well for several years, used probably about 15 times, in conjunction with Halfords stands which I think cost the same - and yes I agree having pins in them feels a lot safer than a ratchet, especially since I've seen ratchets fail (although not on a car stand...!)

I wouldn't worry about the weight of the jack.  Unless it weighed more than the car, it's gonna be possible for it to be moved by gravity with the car on it.  As long as it is strong enough for the job at hand, and light enough for comfortable-ish use, that's all that I'd be worried about.  Because you don't use it on a slope.. do you!? ;)
