I know a guy who works for Smart and have been getting him to keep an ear out for any forfour news so here it is. It will be called the fortwo+2, the engine and gearbox will come from nissan/Renault. It is going to be unveiled in September this year.

Thanks for the news , If that name sticks and the car is anything like the " photoshops "  it's going to be a disaster ( imho ) , but the good news would be that it makes our cars even more desireable .

Just found this and to my way of thinking it's much more like how any new forfour should look , no  B-pillars and suicide rear doors , automatic touch door handles, minimum-drag wing mirrors etc , it might not be everyones " cup of tea " , but I like it (shame it's only a concept ) can anyone guess who's responsible for it ? ( I do know   ;) )

i strangely do like it.

dont like the fact that the new forfour will be called the fortwo+2. i know it will be a 2 seater with 2 (small) rear seats... why not make them proper seats so you can get 4 people in. its like to toyota iq, its got 4 seats BUT one of the rear seats (behind the driver) is unusable if your over a certain hight

Errrr no.....ForTwo+2 is a ForTwo+2 not a ForFour.

I don't like however the fact that it is a two+two :(

The fact it is going to be called a ForTwo+2 and not a ForFour is what does matter.
So it can be a 2+2 for all we care.....and our cars are thereby guaranteed classics.

And I agree with Brulaw.......
....If that name sticks and the car is anything like the "photoshops"  it's going to be a disaster ( imho ), but the good news would be that it makes our cars even more desireable.

But as to the image/pictures you posted Bru...  I'd go so far as to say if it was ever
produced that I'd gladly put a ForFour badge on it......blow the fact it wouldn't be a Smart..
and I'd happily drive it back n forth around MBWorld and other MB premises to rub it in
their faces that this is what a real replacement ForFour should be made to be like.

2 + 2 seating arrangement has been around since cars began, typically a coupé is a 2 + 2 - 2 proper seats and 2 occasional seats.

Like I previously stated, the Twingo will win sales because it will be cheaper, better spec'd and a recognised/established brand.

And just think this could of been the new forfour...

...if Mercedes were still tied with Mitsubishi. Better engine tech, granted it's a CVT for the auto.

Nice....and a shame it's not the replacement....
Mind you, anything without the Tridion sort of
detracts from it being a Smart....BUT.....if you
click and open up the white one I can just make
out where I'd paint a silver 'Tridion look-a-like'
on it...if I bought one.
Early days for a 'GTI' version, but I reckon Mitsi
won't even consider that....it's a mass market town car.
As for it being a CVT.....I've no issues with that.

Nah, a CVT is preferable to a slightly annoying AMT

I have always found CVTs lifeless, a lot worse than the standard auto. AMTs give good performance and mpg, and driver input.
