From 2007, when it went to Hambach with one of it's former owners. He didn't own it long, traded it in at smart of Edinburgh for a fortwo edition red.

No, it went to Hambach ;-) We were all queueing for the Elefant Blu car wash which is on the factory site. Sadly there are very few good places to take a pic of a car with the factory behind it there. Frightening to think that was 5yrs ago now........ Where's the time gone?

Well finally got round to fixing some bits on dad's car today as I had a weekend that my wife had only booked herself something for ;)

He had already fitted a new door handle himself and a rear seatbelt clip but today was removal of the tow point, radiator frame fix, lower grill replacement and bottom coolant pipe replacement!!

Simples eh??

Well the people who fitted the tow point (for towing behind a camper can) were muppets!!

Firstly, they have removed the crash bar!! Not good!!

Secondly (and the reason for the radiator frame issues and thus the punctured coolant pipe) was that they had hacked the radiator frame to pieces as well as bits of the front of the car and the lower grill.

I say hacked - that's probably not a strong enough word!! Destroyed is better!!

Removing it was quite simpleish!!

1. I removed the whole front end as per the guide on here

2. Remove both headlights

3. Remove both upper wing mounting sections

This is what came off...

And what the poor car looked like...

Once this was all off, we were able to also replace the lower coolant hose...

...and swapped the horrible merc hose clips with some easier to fit jubilee clips!

All fitted back together - no spare parts left over or anything!!

Just got to order the missing crash bar now and fit that in a few weeks :(

Also found some stuff while rummaging....

1.  The reason that the aircon does not work is that the broken radiator mount allowed the aircon rad to put pressure on the aircon pipes (as it bounced up and down) and the right angle bend in the pipe that goes behind the RH headlamp has fractured! No gas! Any ideas on whether this is a fixable pipe or a replacement??

2. Dads car has the lovely rubber finishing surrounds around the headlamps to fill the gap between panels and light units...

No part numbers on them though.

I also fitted dads new BRAB mats from 6months ago and adjusted his drivers door that was a tad low and catching on the lock bar when closing.

Busy day and my arms and back ache!!

Have you thought about asking Musmart (who knows of a guy breaking a black Brab)
if the front crash bar and foam mpact absorbsion pad are avail....and possibly save money
rather than buy it new from MB ?  He may even have that aircon pipe ?

Oh, and those other bits....
