Passion or Pulse
« on: September 17, 2013, 08:11:29 AM »

My 1.3 is Black with all the electrics but there is no badge saying Passion or Pulse. Doesn't look like its been peeled off. Just looks like nothing has ever been there.
It doesn't have alloys but the hub caps like the Pulse.
It does have speakers where the manual mirror adjustments would be and a electric mirror control on the drivers side.
Could mine be the pulse with optional extras or a Passion with the alloys removed.
I'm guessing the Passion came out stock with alloys?
Any help would be great to identify my Forfour.

Its a Pulse with extras. The tell tale signs are the black ABS door mirror caps, no panoramic roof and steel wheels.

My old forfour was a Pulse with the leather pack, air con and softouch.

If you got time and choice enough, look for a good passion with al lot (or all  ;) ) the extras.
If you know a reliable Pulse for sale and it seems ok, buy it.
A choice you got to make on your own.

Could mine be the Pure with extras? The Pure is the one with 14" wheels.

As already stated, if it has a 'solid' roof rather than a panoramic/clear roof, then yes
it will be a Pulse. If it has a panoramic roof, it coud have been specified at original
purchase time by the 1st owner......but TBH, it does look like a Pulse.  But hey......
who cares....it's a ForFour, and that's  8)

Its not a pure, the pure had mono coloured interior fabrics.

The 14in steels were on the 1.3 and 1.1 Pulse (IIRC the 68 CDi), Pure and Black Edition. 15in steels were on 1.5 petrols and diesels Pulse & Pure.

It looks like a Japanese spec Pulse.

Most forfours in NZ are used imports, They all seem to have full elec windows, elec mirrors and a centre belt in the rear seat - both pulse and passion models. Passion is more likely to be two-tone and will have panoramic roof, front fog lights and alloys.

May have slightly better sound system (if it has tweeters in the doors) looks like Radio 5 but will the FM band will be Japanese - 77-90 MHz (or thereabouts).

Never seen a Pure in this county. Have seen a couple of Brabs though.

nzforfour I think you are right. The radio band is terrible. Can I reset the radio to pick up more radio bands?

I'm not sure if you can change the FM band range on the unit, you will probably need to fit an expander between the radio and aerial.

Check out this guide http://www.forfour.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=79.0 as you'll need to remove the stereo to fit the band expander. It is not a hard job but is a bit fiddly removing the heater dials and trim if you haven't done it before.

I'd recommend also getting an aux in cable off ebay and fitting that at the same time!

Or you could buy a Pure Highway DAB receiver and just tune it in to a free frequency on your receiver. Then you'll have lots of DAB channels. I have one in each of my forfours and they a great!
