B service was done on her at S2Smarts London 2 thousand miles ago :)
Pulley's and the like included on the day.

Was really tempted to do an "economy" run to / from work this week, just to see realistic highest mileage for my route and driving style.
Thing is, with her being a new toy, it's impossible to resist giving her a blast!

Shall see on the next tank (possibly!)

Was unsure to start a new thread or put this on here but found a few tiny niggles.

First, when I accelerate in 3rd, it feels like there's hesitation. Doesn't strike me as clutch slippage or turbo lag.
Could this be a dirty MAF / TVA? She's a tiny bit juddery at idle so though this conclusion makes sense.

Also, the rear parcel shelf....... damn that rattle! Tried taping the ends that pop in to make it a more secure fit but it hasn't worked. I guess the rattle is from the mounting points or am I looking in the wrong place?

Lastly, the rear seat seems to rattle on it's runners. Can this be adjusted / lubed or is it something that's got to be lived with?

Been out driving her tonight so didn't get any pics. Will try tomorrow if the temptation to go out again doesn't take over!

Hesitation.....bit juddery at idle......          What fuel are you running ?
never ever use cheapo supermarket fuel.  Take the advice of the other Brab guys on here.

Parcel shelf rattle ! Derr...     the ends of the rods should have rubber caps on...so should not rattle.

Rear seat rattle ?   new one on me.   Try sliding it back a notch or 2.....or all the way back, then
forward and finally settle where you want it, and when ou release the handle, let it go fast so that
it snaps back into place.

I put regular in her this morning. My petrol station on the way into work doesn't have premium.
Plus point is I switch jobs soon and there's a station with premium close by!
Point taken though. Anything I can add to help her out whilst she uses the cheapo fuel? Forte maybe?

I know that the shelf has caps on. I just assumed that seeing these are the only visible points of contact, they must be to blame. Seemingly not. Will investigate when I get 5 minutes.

Yeh, the rear bench seems to have some play on it. Not back and forward though, up and down. Another thing to look into.

Re fuel.....
Some Tesco's sell the STP petrol treatment.....you could try that.
Or any good octane booster/additive should help.....

As for the rear bench...
It should have zero up n down movement.  Is it properly locked down in place ?
Unlatch from the boot by way of the centre bar, tilt the seat up  bit, then pull it
down hard. You should hear it click/latch into place.  Then check for movement.
If there is any, have a lock around it all and see if there is a way to adjust the
2x spring tensioners on the bottom of the seat at the very back of the seat rails.
Also check the front mounting bolts are tight...they're hidden behind the little
oval carpet flaps below the lower front edge of the seat (1 per side).

Cheers CrazyG

There's an Asda just around the corner from work so shall pop in and see if there's any additive.

The bench.... I guess it isn't! Been sliding it back and forward but not tilted it yet. Will give it a tug in the morning (fnar fnar!) Either way, I'll report back with the findings just in case anyone else gets this issue.

To tilt...

Fold the seats forward

Slide bench all the way forward using lever in back

Pull on black bar and lift

...ther may be something in the holes stopping it latching properly maybe.

Maybe that's the rattle too - not heard of rear shelf issues.

Could be TVA or throttle (what's tick over like)

Defo don't use regular - it's crap. Seriously try and find a shell garage. It's the best you can put in.

I'm lucky as I have 3 within 5 miles of my house but its worth it - trust me!!

Also check the battery and earth leads.

If the battery looks original then replace (eurocarparts always have bargain batteries - Bosch are about £35-40) as this made a huge difference on my car.

I agree re: Shell petrol if poss'. Plus you can get a Shell Drivers Club card which will earn you points off your fuel and whilst not being a massive saving every little helps.  ;) Also agree about the battery... I got a new Varta Calcium one a while back and immediately noticed a difference in starting and running.

Cheers guys.

Starting wise, she's sweet as a nut. Not struggling to crank. Just searching a bit on idle (not as bad as your vid Problemchild)

Put some STP in this morning to help the cheap tank along.

TVA and MAF are getting done this weekend, as well as the induction kit.

Re. the seat, I'll have a look out at lunch time to see what's up. It's damn annoying!

Was actually looking at the earth leads you put on but they're out of stock and have been for a while. I guess Colt ones will be just as good?

Thanks again all. It's appreciated.

Using the wrong fuel in the Brabus is immediately punished.
Less power.
Less drivability.
Less fun.
Every Brabus driver will tell you the same.

Original owner of my Brab, Mr J500ANT, said he used to use 95 RON standard petrol and there's certainly been no long-term effects, but when I once had to put £10 in of standard (during the last idiots' panic-buying session) there was a noticeable knock and lack of oomph, so I always use Shell V-Power.  Used Tesco for a short while last winter, but had about 20% less MPG and the car just didn't like to move.

I have a rattle from my parcel shelf too, I believe it to be the flap that hangs over as it doesn't seem to rattle when the flap is folded on top of itself.

The rear roof blind is also snapped at one end, and that can rattle on a bumpy road, perhaps yours is also damaged, or loose.

Great. Will try and flip the flap over to see what happens on the way back from work.

Re. the rear bench, just got back in from playing with it. Flipped the seats forward, pushed the bench all the way forward, tilted the bench up and slammed it down again. It hasn't fixed it. It appears that the metal guide with the spring on the drivers side still has a bit of play when it's engaged. Don't know if it's safe to bend the frame of the bench down by a few mm to get it sitting truer. Are there any adjusters I'm missing?

95 RON petrol shouldnt make it knock as the ECU will run the 'safer' low power map, whick also reduces mpg. Ive found sainsburys super 97 works almost as well as shell 99. The warm air from an induction kit +95 petrol does increase the chances of knock though.

The rear bench sits in a tiny rail so is a main source of noise in the cabin. Some sound deadening around the place where the bench slots into the base works as ive done it using bluetack  ;D
