Only went and bought a brab!
« on: September 15, 2013, 08:52:39 PM »

Howdy folks.
Finally bought a brab!
Drove a 500 mile round trip yesterday (11 hours total due to crashes on the damn M6).
What can I say but it's love at first sight!
Just over 60k miles, B service done, all the history, nav unit and immaculate inside and out.
Only niggle is a sticky selector (the gear stick side, not the gearbox side so an easy fix tomorrow)
£3500 and a VERY happy man!
That low down torque and the 2nd gear pull.... DAMN! Tanked it up for 50 quid, drove the 250 miles home quite "spirited" and it's still got 80 mile range. Dead impressed.
Will try and take some pics tomorrow when I get back from work.

Ohh, and it's B service was done at...... S2smarts London! Even more reason to have confidence in the  purchase :)

Previous owner was Martin Hill from Dudley.

Honestly, I love it already. Spent 2 1/2 hours polishing it tonight.

Had a stereotypical office boy audi diesel sat up my rear end on the motorway on the way back yesterday.
Shoulda seen his face when I dropped a cog and whisked off into the distance!
It's works the purchase just for that moment.

Ty ty!

It's also got, for want of a better word, scuff panels on.
They're body coloured matching stickers that go where it would normally be stone chipped (front lip, front of the rear arch) so there's no visible chips on it.
No idea if they're standard or not.

Ahhhh...I know what you mean...but they're not actually body coloured, though they appear so.
It's a clear urethane film which when applied to your car or bike surface reduces stone chip damage.
Stones literally bounce off it !   The same principle as the screen protectors on mobile phones.
Here's a few companies that do the stuff....
www.paintgard.co.uk/‎   www.bodyguarduk.com/‎   www.paintshield.co.uk/‎
www.premierpaintguard.co.uk/   www.armourfend.co.uk/

They all use the same gear....from  3M

Fantastic stuff. Cheers for that.

Ordered a few bits for her (calling her an "it" just isn't on!)

MAF cleaner, throttle body cleaner (tiny little blip on idle), brab locking valve caps, lube for the gear link.

Was going to buy an induction kit but unsure if it will fit. It's for a colt CZT so should fit I hope.
This is the one -

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/K-N-57i-Induction-Kit-For-Mitsubishi-Colt-CZT-2007-1-5-Turbo-57-0649-/370877535915?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&fits=Car+Make%3AMitsubishi%7CModel%3AColt&hash=item565a0616ab

Any helps appreciated. I'll be clicking buy as soon as someone says it fits :)

BOUGHT!

Cheers. Seen the guide but it was for a different make on yours.
May as well wait for all the bits to turn up and do the maf clean, tva clean and induction kit fit at the same time.
Wifes not happy that we've had it 1 day and I already wanna take bits apart :)

The feelings already there Brabs :)

Had a work mate out in her this lunch time because she was insisting its "just" a smart car. 10 minutes later and a pale colleague, job done!

Same induction kit I have.  Two things to watch - that it doesn't rub the brake lines which will be only a few mm behind the end of the cone; and check the tightness of the bolts every couple of months because otherwise it'll fall off outside S2 Smarts and you'll have to embarass yourself borrowing tools from them... or something like that.

You'll love the Brab.  I've had mine two years, still got a long list of mods I want to make to make it finally mine, and so happy that one week from today it will find a new home in a garage where I can keep it safe.  Every time it gets in my head that it's not as fast as I remember it, I just head for the country lanes and have some 2nd gear fun.

EDIT: And oh yeah as no-one has mentioned it yet - be sure the cam belt and pulleys have been changed - if not, get it done asap.  Expect to pay £400-450 for the job.
