Advice to everyone re speed humps/bumps.

1/ try to take them at a slight angle, that way one side will
start to lift before the other and not give a straight on
    shot at the sump

2/ if not feasible/possible, take the bumps (not the humps)
with one wheel missing it and the other just catching it
rather than trying to straddle the bump.  Again, it will lift
one side up and ensure clearance under the sump.
(works for me with my slammed CDi and the Brab)

3/ take any of the bumps/humps at a speed that doesn't rattle
the fillings in your teeth or clunk your head on the roof !
Tough if the guy behind has to crawl, or if they are in a
truck/van/bus that can straddle the obstacle.....you drive to
suit you and your car, not theirs. Let them past as the first
oppurtunity if they bother you that much.

The sump for my diesel does not look like the picture supplied.
It certainly doesn't split.
Having a lot of fun taking it off as the ac is attached to the sump so the alternator belt needs to be loosened.
Does anyone have any further info?
Could do with a service manual

No one does a service manual..MB saw to that on the grounds that
if only they know then they would be the only one's to service or
repair the ForFour.

Has anyone looked to see if there is a Service Manual for a Mitubishi Colt
2004-2007 ?  It would be good for quite a bit of the mechanical stuff if so.

The Colt DiD shares/uses the Merc engine.
Gearboxes are also common between similar models.

Crazy G correct as usual thanks
I have checked the service manual for the colt and the sump is all one piece.
It looks like I need to split the exhaust to get the sump off.
It well tucked up against the sump . poo! No mention in the service manual
Not happy
Mercedes quote 1.5 hours in there dreams I am tempted to let them have it but this is getting to be a matter of pride!
I have a line diagram not sure how to post it though. The picture posted earlier is not for a Diesel.

The picture is for a ForFour, though not necessarily a diesel.....
but yes, the exhaust has been removed !
You can see where it should pass/fit under the engine/sump area.

my lowered brab always goes wheel either side of those square (bus friendly) speed hups and all that scrapes is the plastic diffuser on the undertray.

what are you guys driving over ;)

In my defence I was going slow less than 5mph and these were massive it was a private road quite why they need to be so big ?
Anyway the combination of large speed hump and knackered shocks I suspect as suspension is compliant unlike my 1.1 for four or roadster. Yes I have three now

While under my car today i had a look at my underbelly..........

lots of "contact" clearly on the front chin spoiler and undertray flap but not a mark on the sump, oil filter or CAT.

(sorry - most of this is dirt and grim - only the worn out area is damage)

Re 1.5 dci diesel sump removal replacement.
Been a Bit ill but now can report sump has been changed.
One thing to watch for is that the starter motor lower bolt goes through the sump so needs to be removed.
I had to split the exhaust where the clamp is and remove the exhaust bushes mid mounted to move the exhaust enough to get the sump off.
Did this on axle stands but would be much easier on a ramp.
You will also need to  remove the lower bolt on the A/C if fitted.
Also you may need to remove the fan belt.
A new sump plus gasket was about £90.00. ouch so watch out for the speed humps.
