There have been a fair few posts on them

SKF seem to be the name that crops up the most

There may be other mentioned so do a little search first and see what people have done

I bought FAG, and in the box was an SKF bearing. Others have done the same, or straight up ordered SKF (it's more expensive though).

The AMT is a manual gearbox who's gear change and clutch actuation have been automated. It that wasn't listed as a serviceable item, but it takes
2.2L of GL4 MB235.11

try Mercedes for a rear hub and compare prices, don't bother asking for a front bearing as they will only sell you a front hub complete and they come to around £300.

I came up against something similar at my forfour's MOT last November.  There was a front lower suspension bush needed replacing, but it was only available as part of a complete lower arm unit which cost about three hundred and ten quid for the part.  Doesn't leave a lot of room for manoeuvre.

Hi Snookey, interesting! I know one of my rear axle bushes isn't in great shape and needs replacing soon-ish but I'm fairly confident this a wheel bearing sort of noise - it gets louder as you drive faster.

I'd had no noise or anything from mine, it just failed on being too worn.  I had to have front pads and discs as well, due to wear on the same front nearside corner.  I guess that brake had worn due to the play in the suspension around it.

You’re very likely right. I needed a new bearing last year (front/right) and as you say, a worn bearing gets louder as you go faster, i.e. direct relation to wheel rotational speed. The bearing therefore is the most obvious and likely culprit.

As a test I got it up to high speed (130kph/80mph) and held down the clutch. The sound remained (slowly dropping as I lost speed) proving the issue was not anywhere else but at the wheels.

give over! £310 for a front lower arm ??? I got a pair of non genuine ones for less

Hmm, this ‘genuine’ ‘non genuine’ stuff is a debatable. By genuine one might insert ‘from MB dealer’?
But MB don’t make suspension arms, they buy them in. They might use some kind of quality control which a ‘non OEM’ one doesn’t have.
Then they put their markup on it!  ;)

I had it done at ATS, but they got the part from smart at Aberdeen.

Checkout replacement poly bushes for the front lower suspension
arms from the likes of Powerflex and SuperPro. It might be cheaper
to replace the bushes than the arm...but take a bit longer if you DIY
it rather than get a garage to do it.

that is a given... I bought a non genuine gearbox mount and upon closer inspection it was a genuine Smart one but they had ground the A454 and MN part numbers off. Gates used to do the same with VAG cam belt kits, the VW logo was scratched off on the pulleys.

Sooo it was the rear wheel hub which also killed the ABS sensor.

New drive belt, spark plugs, 4x brake discs, new pads, ABS sensor, rear wheel hub, oil service, oil filter
