Ethanol
« on: June 19, 2014, 08:16:47 AM »

Hi I have entered Ethanol into the search and haven't really found a answer to my question.
Can I safely run my 1.3 on a 10% blend of Ethanol without damaging rubber seals etc. and if so is it worth while?
If I have asked this question before please forgive me my memory is not the greatest.  :-[
I understand a little that ethanol doesn't produce the same energy than dino fuel and studies show that in some cases it can cost more in the long run using ethanol.
Should I stick with 95 ron or replace it with 97 ron with 10% ethanol?

Yeah runs without any problems with 10% blend. I will go in future to 85% blend ;)

I ran E10 for a few thousand kilometers, when driving through countries that sell it. The car ran very nice and i did not see an increase in fuel consumption. Yes, it has less calories, but since 100% ethanol has about 30% less, then E10 only has 3% less, so instead of 5L/100 it drinks 5.15L/100km, not that much more really, and perhaps small enough that the advantages of ethanol cancel it out (better evaporation, higher octane, oxygenates).

And the evaporative properties of the alcohol and increased octane rating may
