« on: May 14, 2010, 01:07:52 PM »

Hey people, im hoping someone with the necessary know -how will be able to resolve my problem.

Yesterday, i put my heat control knob on cold and it was blowing out hot air?!

could this be because of water, coolant or oil levels maybe.

The knob itself seems to be fine, i havent got a clue..

please help anyone..

cheers!

Have you left it on for more than 1 minute? Mine always blows hot/warm air at first, but that's normal, the system soaks up heat from the dash (heated by the sun) or under bonnet heat. Please give more details on the situation. Had the car been parked in the sun, were you driving it, what was the engine coolant temperature, exterior temp, etc. Was recirculation off, A/C on?

Its never happened before ever. when i want cold air, it blows the coldest air it can possibly retrieve from the outside temperature.

i have no air con, just ventilation.

my car was parked in my drive as usual (for the past 4 years). i switched it on and was getting really hot. i woundered what was goin on. put the fan on full and PURE HOT AIR was blowing out even tho it was on coolest.

i moved it to hot and the same temperature was blowing out the fan.p

switched it off for a few hours and same thing, it would heat up as if it was on the HOT side of the knob.

As i said, i dont know much about cars, so could this be anything to do with water, oil, coolant levels maybe? =/

Krish,
This is a new one on me...and all of us I think ! I've never heard of anyone else
with this problem or anything like it !
Just a simple thought, have you tried gently pulling the control knob...
It may be that the control knob is broken....if it slides off easily.

Also...check out the Techie post on 'Changing the Heater Control Bulbs'...
http://forfour.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=73.0
Have a look at the 3rd picture down..... and you'll see there is a connector at
the rear of the heater control (in black), which connects to the heater valve.
Follow the instructions and get yours apart/dis-assembled like it is in the picture
and check it all out....to see if your connector/fitting has become detached, or
if it is broken in any way.  Do look around and examine everything......not just
the obvious as you may miss what is the actual cause of the problem.
Let us know how you get on.

Could be a faulty cabin temperature sensor.
