My last car was a Fiat Punto Speedgear and I could be away from the lights very quickly if I wanted to be. CVT though is very wasteful and ultimately for normal everyday use it becomes very boring. It becomes boring like driving an electric car and takes away from your driving experience.

That first Colt is a meany though!!  As it was a rally car I wonder if it has a bigger engine and fourwheel drive

ps just looked again at the video +500 hp what a beast

CVT would ruin the forfour.

What makes the softouch great is it works well with small capacity engines, CVTs sap engine power and are generally terrible for any fun. Trust me trying to get an Escort auto to accelerate was awful, although the K11 Micra 1.4 CVT does have good grunt and is great to chuck about; it just lacks feel from what the box is doing.

That Colt rocks btw.

Would love to get a free flow exhuast on Alice cos I know it would pop and bang nicely, not about power increase but a nice noise.

Just think everything that was done to that Colt should in theory be possible with a Forfour. Now that's a real project for someone!!!

I gave that some thought......

And came up with the thought that if Smart had done something lie that, then with it's 'plastic' panels
it would have been the only genuine and original 'kit' car in the rally world ! !
But what a car it would have been.....     mmmmm  4 wheel drive.... luvin the sound of that....

It should be possible to fit an Evo engine and mechanicals into a forfour, there is a lot of room to play with.

Can't remember the exact origins on the Brab engine but I think it is an old FTO or GTO lump, old being the opertive word unfortunately. So does hold in itself a lot of potential with tweaking.

I would love to enter a forfour into Group N for rallying, it is a simple enough car to work on and very light so would be fairly quick with a standard 1.3 or 1.5 lump.

I just realised that the D-iD Colt has exactly the same Merc CDi engine as the Forfour and the same power! So the little three door Colt looks like another option for the future.

shame the 1.5 petrol turbo is only 150bhp and not 178bhp like the Brabus 44? Can that be upped? I know the 500+bhp Colt is out there, but that's a full blown huge intercooled rally car.

Could be interesting to find out which engine :)  what do you refer when you say old FTO or GTO engine ?
We have a damaged 44 and we want to start something :D bad ass ugly ideas :)

Air is drawn into the cylinder of a diesel engine and compressed by the rising piston at a much higher compression ratio than for a spark-ignition engine, up to 25:1. The air temperature reaches 700-900 C, or 1300-1650 F.
