As usual MB/Smrt are keeping the date for this close to their chests....
It is however looking like it could be reverting back to September !
That is...if you believe the somewhat spa*s information that is
available on www.destinationsmart.co.uk
And I quote.........
" Starts 08/09/13 @ 09:30:00AM
Finishes 29/09/13 @ 16:00:00PM
Price: Free
Event Date To Be Confirmed"
So...it will be happening one weekend (either Sat or Sun) in September between 8th & 29th !
So nice to be able to make plans with dates like that.......NOT !
Anyway, I'll keep this up to date as and when I hear or see anything....ok ;)
-
Helpful indeed. I hope they decide soon or it'll be another failure.
-
i shall be applying for my pack - then see if i can make it :)

can we have the link to the site where we can register please?
Ditto..as I can't seem to find any link anywhere on the website to register for the Festival.
Of does one take it to mean that you guys (like us) will be looking to register when there
is a link ?
-
Yeah - when its announced
JJ

Oh I suppose I'll think about trying to consider going

CANCELLED!!!
Copied from thesmartclub........
Please note that smart Retailers have today been advised that smart UK will not be hosting a smart Festival in 2013.
We know that this will be disappointing to many and there is always considerable, and continued, interest in such an event. Importantly however, thesmartclub has been engaged with smart UK throughout smart’s recent decision making process and we concur with smart UK’s decision regarding The smart Festival in 2013.
The 2012 smart Festival was a continued evolution of previous year’s events. Indeed, the current format had evolved from the earlier ‘Destination Brooklands’ events (2006 to 2008) with several small changes from 2009 onwards leading to 'The smart Festival' experienced last year.
smart UK and thesmartclub are keen to ensure that each event brings smart owners, prospective owners and enthusiasts something very special and equally, something different from previous years. Every year, hundreds of attendees complete thesmartclub’s post event feedback form and, as promised, thesmartclub shares that post event feedback from each Festival with smart UK. There’s no doubt that 'The smart Festival' is popular but feedback has also shown that the event does need to be ‘refreshed’ and avoid the risk of it being ‘more of the same’ each year.
As such, planning is already underway for major events in 2014 and you can be sure that thesmartclub will continue to play a key role in ensuring that such events bring you the enjoyment, innovation and experiences you have come to expect from such a collaborative approach with smart.
The fact that there will be no smart Festival in 2013 gives everyone that opportunity to achieve these goals.
Meantime, many of you will be attending smarttimes 2013 in Lucerne in August this year and you can find a full range of event information, Registration links, hotel reviews and more via our dedicated web site at www.smarttimes2013.com – you can also go direct to event information and Registrations via smart’s own homepage (www.smart.com) selecting ‘smart world’ then ‘events’.

Thanks for posting up - just read it myself on smartz
They much have heard FDC was thinking about attending :P

Well....it's about time they made an nnouncement,
even if it's not what we expected. :'(
I do wonder if the decision has something to do with the
vote to be held at Smart Times 2013 for the next venue ?
The choice being either Denmark or England !
If England get's it then that would save MB/Smart UK having
to organise a Smart Festival 2014.
???
Pessimist that I am, I'm inclinded to think Denmark will 'win'. :-[
Looks like we could use this 'oppurtunity' to have/organise
our own lill' ForFour meet, eh ? One weekend in September...
say the 2nd or 3rd Sunday ?
-
Bummer! >:(

Ok folks, ideas for a central location?
:)
-
birmingham?!
the heritage motor museum at gaydon?
-
NOT good news :( , I look forward to getting together with as many " forfourers " as I can at the smart festival ....... Hmmm , Well if something can be arranged I'll do my best to be there .
-
Oh well.
Least said about my opinion on the 'why' the better.
-
They much have heard FDC was thinking about attending :P
That was my first thought. I was gonna go in the Audi.
-
... I was gonna go in the Audi.
Blasphemy....a heretic no less ! Hang you head in shame boy........ >:( Only kiddin...
-

the heritage motor museum at gaydon?
I assume this is a 5 minute drive for you.
You are about to discover why I stopped trying to arrange smart meets.
Everyone wants it on their doorstep, there is always somebody doing something else on the dates you suggest, people cancel at the last minute or just don't bother.
Probably better to just attend S2smart's next BBQ, at least then the 3 forfour owners that do bother, aren't busy etc won't be rattling around on their own.

its not a 5 min drive for me add another 1 hour 55 min drive to your 5 min and thats how long it would take me to get there!
its hardly a 5 min drive from leeds to birmingham
-
S2smarts BBQ is a good idea
Brum is good for lots of people as its central
You know what, petrol is too expensive - let's just have a Skype conference call while sat in our cars ;)

As for a BBQ at S2....one is possibly coming up very soon...
especially as the Festival has been cancelled. I'll let those interested
know as and when Rob conforms it with me.
Otherwise....Evil is without doubt completely right...
We can't seem to organise a 'major' meet just for ForFour's, so then...
why doesn't someone in an area/region (North/South/East/West) of
the UK 'grasp the handle' and organise your own area meet ?
Mr singh, why not try to organise one up in 'your neck of the woods' ?
And someone/anyone who lives to the East or West of the UK...? ?
Come on everyone, why not ? We might even manage to get them
all to be on the same day ! But at different places, eh !
Pick an interesting venue (or offer a choice of venues) and meet for
a morning coffee, or a burger break, or lunch whatever.....
It's not that hard to do...post up on here and use the forum....
-
I very much enjoyed our little meet last year, so perhaps I will take the chance to organise another London-ish meet soon!
-
id love to organise a meet but its the time i have a lack of. weekdays i can't plan due to work and the commute to and from work. and on weekends i have my families cars to service and look after, weddings to go to and the like :(
-
Ok then...
I'll start a new separate post for each region/zone/area, and then it'll be up to ANYONE
(or more than one) in the area to take on board the task of arranging their own area
ForFour mini-meet.
It sound's daunting, but I can vouch that it really doesn't take much, honest.
Pick a couple of possible dates and possible venue's, then 'offer' those details out.
Plan to keep the mini-meet short time wise......but it will over-run I can tell you.
But don't expect 'floods' of interested parties.....but do expect some who will say
yes to the event but who won't in fact turn up.... for whatever reason suits them !
As for numbers....even 5 is better than none. Our last 'little' one for London that we
did off the M4 near Reading services got just 7 of us together..for a mid morning
Sunday brunch at a McDonald's in a out of town shopping precinct. It was a great
chance to get together and chat ForFours and whatever else, and to put faces to
forum names etc. We planned for 2hours and l think we max'd out at nearly 4 !
But everyone appeared to thoroughly enjoyed it.
'Prelim' posts for the area's will be up on here tomorrow (Wednesday 7th Aug)
-
there just aren't enough of us tbh :( (interested enough you mean [CrazyG addition]
the one in the car park last year was good and a few new people came along and we talked
through a few things over a maccy d's and was nice - long way to go for some though.
we are possibly better tagging on to another Smart meet and then there is more than just us to try and amuse ;)

I do not rule out 'mixing it' with any other Smart meet/group get together.
In fact it's a good idea for anyone contemplating a mini-meet. Thanks for that JJ.
