Hello,

I have a very strange sound coming somewhere underneath the steering wheel that I cannot identify. I recorded it on my phone on the morning. this sound starts when I turn the ignition on and stops after turning it off. Sometimes it is louder too. Is this sound OK and usual?

The car is usual 1.5 Forfour with AMT, RHD.

It sound as if rat is trying to make a hole somewhere. it is pulsing sound (scratching like) from under the steering wheel. I tried to amplify the sound to make it more loud.

managed to listen to it on the new laptop  -  not sure what it could be.

does it only make the noise when the engine is running??

i'd try and turn off aircon/fan and everything else around the car that could be around that area.

I have everything off, the noise is due to amplifying the sound. during the recording engine was off. it still makes this sound when the engine is running though.

I thought it could be a fuel pump, but I was unable to locate any kind of a pump under the bonnet, so it has to something else.

Sounds like the floppy disk noise i complained about a while back. Sounds very creepy amplified though

Fuel pump is in the gas tank.

My guess is that fan wheel bearing has gone bad.

It does seem very creepy. I will chech the radiator but it seemed ok aboit week ago when i made the A/C fluid refil
