My Cdi is booked in for an "A" service in 4 weeks time, it's always had Mobil 1 0W40 in but S2Smart use Shell Helix...will switching oils now do any harm?

Should do no harm whatsoever....
S2Smarts prefer to stick with MB/Smart parts and recommended oils wherever possible,
when servicing, so if you want to stick to Mobil 1 then I'd advise you talk to them.

it wont do any harm switching oil brands
we used to use shell oil in our customers cars and then switched to castrol (what jaguar cars recommend) and then we went back to shell. it was all done for costs involved in buying the oil.
i used coma 5w30 and shell 5w30 in my old city coupe.
you should be using 10w40 in the petrol engines. read the manual and that's what it recommends

Ah great thanks, I may ask S2 to stick with the Mobil 1 in my diesel
