Induction kit - Brabus
« on: February 24, 2014, 02:43:48 PM »

Howdy folks.

Fitted a K & N induction kit at the weekend and wow...... the sound is awesome!
Was inspired by Problemchild's youtube video and a doddle to fit.
Got the uprated earth leads en route also (hopefully fix the dimming lights changing gears at night)

Next on the list is a sports cat / decat but what kind would you guys recommend? Seen a few on fleebay that might be suitable but more interested in your experiences for cost / quality. Also interested in any more upgrades that can be done to free up performance.

Then, once this is sorted, hopefully get her booked in for a remap. Only issue is the distance to get there but well worth it I bet!

So, any clues for the best bang for buck sports cat / decat for my brab?
I'm unsure if the Colt stuff is a direct fit on the Brab.

I would recommend that you consider seriously the path of control
rather than power. A good handling car will always be a joy to
drive and perform better than one with just a power upgrade.
So do think about fitting the Bilstein coilover suspension setup before
having a remap.
Control comes before power, as any race engineer would tell you.
JJ, musmart, would you not agree ?

As to your inital question, a Colt de-CAT/sports CAT will fit.
And to continue with your 'assault on power' (not just for the noise),
a custom exhaust would be on the cards, as per the likes of cowboy
and a few others.

Cheers.

Agreed on the handling front. Something to maybe reduce the awful jolts whilst driving through potholes would be great. Don't get me wrong, it was expected before purchase but still rattles the fillings in my teeth.

Power wise, I know it's never going to be lightning fast but I love the car so much, I want to treat it to a few presents! The concept of a 6.7 second smart boggled me when I first saw one on pistonheads but to get one close to / under 6 would put a massive smile on my face (although it already does every day!)

Thanks again for the info CrazyG

Cheers. Will do.

The one I linked though, will that fit? May be worth a cheeky last minute bid if it is :)

One more thing whilst your on, what are the chances of the car throwing up limp mode with this fitted?
